Yen press has already picked up so many 4-koma's, I'm really hoping that they will grab "Sketchbook" soon. It's a small and quiet series that somehow hooks you and makes you come back again and again. Maybe after they get Yotsuba& rolling.

I second that. The Sketchbook anime series was wonderful and it'd be nice to read the original.

You're absolutely right, but I love looking at those five characters. |

I third that. But I've seen the anime and have actually read the manga. Both have their strong points, but the manga focuses more on comedy during some chapters. There needs to be more slice of life shows that aren't packed with moe and fanservice made and licensed. Sketchbook would be a interesting series to watch in English audio as well. Overall, its a very peaceful and enjoyable series, and its not completely moe and doesn't have frequent fanservice like K-ON does. |

Oh, I wasn't aware Hikkatsu! was only three volumes. I'm gonna pick that up. I got all of Dokkoida!? for $7 (First two for $1, last one for $5) at Anime North and enjoyed it much more than I should have. And I really like the anime too. Did you know Geneon apparently made a Dokkoida?! antenna to put on the top of your car? And to think they went out of business...
...and that I totally want that...just because...man, I seriously loved Geneon...I still do... Anyway, yeah, f*ck ADV manga. B*stards couldn't even release the first f*cking series of PeaceMaker Kurogane OR Aria OR Kagerou-Nostalgia. Tokyopop did for PMK and Aria, but no one gives a f*ck about Kagerou-Nostalgia... And Temari Matsumoto's work is soooo generic...seriously, I've read two of her other books, and I can't remember sh*t about them except they were totally boring and formulaic, BUT PRETTY, and in yaoi...that's a BIG selling point. |

I'll probably end up adding this to my Amazon Wishlist but waiting for other reader reviews to roll in before I decide to buy. I've found that, all other things considered, I tend to prefer full-length stories to one-shot collections. They (one-shots) often rush the story along (so as to fit the, er, "happy ending" in the page-length allowed) which of course greatly lessens the emotional impact of said ending because you barely have time to learn the characters' names, let alone anything about them or why you should care if they end up together. |

Yeah, I hope that Yotsuba& gets continued. I liked that little series, from what I've read of it so far.
Good to know that I wasn't the only one that felt rushed by the last volume of Ral Grad. Packing in two of the supposedly difficult battles (Black Rhinoceros and Clear Human) together seemed too fast for the previous pacing. At least the creators were able to create an ending for it, as opposed to some series that just end in 4 volumes and stop. I think it is a fair review; the artwork is beautiful, but the storyline does seem to go by too fast. |
