Loved this OVA, and was glad to finally see my favorite volume of the manga animated. I will say, it doesn't 100% live up to the manga, simply because Yuichi Kumakura's art is so spectacular, are there are little details like the Warden chasing Jing around in a Batman costume that didn't make it, but overall, an excellent OVA.

Okay, this sounds awesome! But do you need to be familiar with the Jing franchise in order to get it? And if so, where should I start to catch up?

Hey, Kir is awesome! Don't dis the bird! Anime hyper

Anyway, the whole thing in Seventh Heaven (or basically the entire 4th volume of the manga) was really awesome, especially since on top of getting the usual Jing-adventure, we also got to dive into Jing's past (and young Jing is just so cute!). Although not my Number One out of all the Jing parts (that is reserved for the last few episodes), Seventh Heaven still earns a place in my favorites book.

And the music is pretty awesome too, but then again Scudelia Electro did a great job with the music for the first series, it wasn't a surprise they did a great job with the music for Seventh Heaven as well.

vashfanatic, your best bet is to start from the beginning. =P Whether you start from Volume 1 of the manga or Episode 1 (The City of Thieves), both are excellent ways to get into King of Bandit Jing for the first time. Although I actually recommend both; there are some things in the manga that aren't in the anime and vice versa.

It's nice to see this OVA getting some love. It's not perfect, but it sure is a fun, unique ride.

I've been debating getting this, volume 4 was my favorite volume of the manga, but that's just the thing: I own this manga! It not being animated actually deterred me from getting the series at first though honestly. Well for now, it's surely on my Otakon wish list.

Good review. I found this OVA strangely appealing. Kinda like Murder Princess. It came and went so fast that I really didn't know what I had watched, only that I liked it.

I enjoyed this OVA; it had the same feel of the series which is a good thing. Smile

vashfanatic, I've watched the entire series, but I think this OVA might be able to be watched as a stand alone title. There might be some parts that would be more understandable/enjoyable (like Jing's past) if you finished the manga/anime, but it didn't seem like an "after the series ended" kind of show (unlike Fullmetal Alchemist- Conqueror of Shamballa movie).

Oh, cool. I remember watching the original series back when I was in high school - and I loved it. I'll have to check out this OVA, it sounds awesome! Very Happy

It looks like my library has at least part of the manga. I'll scope it out. Smile

I don't think you need to have seen the TV series first. There's not a lot of depth or complexity to the characters here, so I don't think you will be lost at all starting with this OVA. The characters stay fairly true to type, which you will pick up very quickly. There's not much, if any, of a continuous story line going on either, so you won't be missing anything there.

I'm not a huge fan of Jing, but I thought the OVA was consistent with the TV series. If you saw the TV series and enjoyed it, chances are that you'll like Seventh Heaven also.

Hopefully the OVA is decent compared to the mess up the TV series was, save the artwork. Everything was so plain in the anime and was just...there. Plus, an unsatisfying ending didn't help.

I'd say it's worth it, but then I bought it from ADV ages ago. I really think one can dive in without having seen the series or having read the manga. It's basically the master thief theme we see a fair amount of the time-DNAngel, Saint Tail, Case Closed's Kaito Kid for that matter.
Kir's fun, Jing's cool. It works.

I bought this ova when it fist came out via ADV Films, and although I found it could be rather confusing at times it was wonderful to see Jing back in action once more.
7th Heaven is a must own for Jing Fans.
and...I like Joey Hood as Jing. His glib attitude seems to slide in very well to the story.
My biggest disappointment is that I believe this is the end of Jings Story.
I want more. I want another 13...26 episodes of twists and turns.
I think there is plenty left to be offered.

Luckily i saw all the TV epsiodes so i get it

until the ending where everyone was calling out bloody murder for the lack of a second season. Just like Candiate for Goddess and Tokko,it's another series that's incomplete.
