Gad Guard was a Geneon license, not ADV. |

Yeah, all that's left really is to ponder what those two unaccounted for licenses will be and to guess what will come out which day. I imagine they'll probably mention Oh! Edo Rocket tomorrow, and save Soul Eater (since overall it's probably a bigger license) for last.
Also, I guess a Last Exile box set would be nice, but it sucks knowing it won't come with all the extras the Geneon version had. I don't know what, or if, Gankutsuou had any extras, but a cheap boxset of that would probably be more welcomed, since the singles on Rightstuf are expensive as it is at like $10 each. Yeah, it looks like the pattern is announcing the Geneon rescues first (starting with the worst one - Ikki Tousen - and going up) and build up anticipation for the actual new aquisitions. Not really a smart stategy on their part, but then again their marketing stategies have been pretty bizarre in my view. Effective, but bizarre. One clue kind of did point to Evangelion, I hear that is a pretty big thing |

Yeah it's big, but it's only one DVD versus a potential 8-10 DVDs that Soul Eater would need to fit on. I'd imagine they'd do Soul Eater in boxes, since singles would take forever, and no one wants singles anymore. Plus I'd imagine that Soul Eater would have a bigger range of audience, and they could play up the fact that it's a shounen that: 1. Doesn't flat out suck. 2. Ends. 3. Is actually well animated. |

So my big question at this point, it is this (and Ikki Tousen and any possible others) a distribution deal or has Funi totally bought the licenses from Geneon? Any ANN editorial staff know the answer to this?

Yeah, that's what I though when I first watched Gad Guard. I gave it a "Decent" rating on My Anime, but that was because I though the last three episodes of the series were very well done. Otherwise I would've rated it "So-so". |

Gad Guard, I probably won't watch this show, but at least this series isn't a ecchi series like the first license.
Hopefully, there will be shows that will be slightly more interesting. |

They announced these as licenses as part of the Go Go event, where they announced these titles without having Geneon mentioned. So these shows are now FUNimations, like their Sojitz deal. And I doubt they bought them from Geneon, they likely bought them from companies in Japan that Geneon got them from in the first place. |

Nah, that would be too easy. Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho. Lance FUNimation Christmas elf in training |

So why did you guys try to act like these license rescues were a big deal? They're not. We expected 10 new shows, we're only getting 5, and two of them were already expected. So this means 3 new shows in reality. Probably would have made more sense to do it in 5 days for the new shows, and then have an announcement of the other 5 rescues, or announce a new show and a rescue in the same day. To give the rescues any kind of special treatment is inane. Last edited by walw6pK4Alo on Tue Dec 23, 2008 12:17 pm; edited 1 time in total |

This also looks like a true license-rescue. The previous Geneon distribution deals had Geneon's name and logo displayed on FUNimation's page for said title (Nanoha for example) but no such thing here.
