W00t! Funimation has quickly stepped up its operations nationwide, from the looks of it.

Now they just need to have a 25 for 100 sale on Funimation stuff at Rightstuf.com...hehehe.

Nice to know they'll be keeping the dub cast for the Hellsing OVAs. I don't think the fans could've lived with them replacing any of its cast.

In general, if a volume or more of a series has already been brought out by either of those companies, Funimation will retain the cast and simply pick up with the next new DVD. In other cases, where no releases currently exist, it will treat the license as an entirely new product and make individual cast and format decisions.

This makes absolutely no sense.

Bayoab said they's looking at ADV titles on a case-by-case basis. And with Geneon titles stuff like Saiunkoku it was said that they'll do the first three volumes individually then go to boxsets for 4-9, etc. In general Funimation are trying to go straight to boxset with everything.

The last episode of the Hellsing OAV series is out already

This should be corrected to state that the fourth episode of the Hellsing OAV series is out. The Hellsing OAV series is no where near finished.

Confused it makes perfect sense, so much in fact that I can't see how it can be made any more clear...

I'm just as happy as anybody else of Funimation's rescues, particularly When They Cry. But since I heard this was one of their titles, I'm waiting to hear when they'll come out with the final volume of Welcome to the NHK

I have some (only slightly better than rumor level) info on this from a VA: Funimation isn't planning to release the final volume. They are going to do two releases of NHK. A volume 1-3 set, and a volume 4-6 set.

So yeah, those of us who got the first 5 (or even just 4) volumes are probably screwed.

Slight edit to clarify: this person *should* be in a position to know, but with no official announcement made this info could still easily be wrong. I know I want it to be.

Mokona, you could be right.

Just had a look at the October Diamond catalogue, and they have the boxsets in there. So this probably confirms your fears.

This is going to cause a big stink up for everybody who has purchased up to volume 5 (including me, and I'm in Australia...so that doesn't help either, particularly when importing) Mad

If this is true, then I'll just have to sell my discs, buy the two half-sets from Funimation, and just be happy that they're putting out the full series at all

And just what is wrong with that, and who can blame them? I mean after all the series that have been abandoned in mid volume release, or have stopped only to be re-released as a box set, making everyone who originally bought the singles to have to re-purchase those again in order to get the rest and complete that series. I'll never buy a single again after all that. I say box sets for the win from now on.

I've always preferred boxsets to singles for precisely that reason. In general, it's cheaper when the box-sets come out, and it seems like the trend is to release series in half season or even full season box sets anyways. So, I'll continue buying my boxes. whee...
