Just a guess, but maybe too many people were paying $0.01 for it? Confused

I tried to donate $2 thru paypal and it wouldn't go. Then tried $5 and same thing. Maybe issues with payment methods?

recently went to Crunchyroll and found that Shinji was "forced" to remove Druaga. Despite how nice Shinji is, he beat around the bush and didn't explain why he had to remove this series. Though my guess is politics, money and copy right issues. Although Shinji never mentioned this, I belive Blassreite will be removed as well.

Though this is primarly Shinji's problem for letting letting people pay even a penny for the HD download. If I were the Gonzo company, I'd blame this revenue outcome on Crunchyroll.

There were technical issues with getting the download and streaming to finish for a ton of people, so it was taken down so the problem can be worked on.

Shinji claims DURR HURR HURR FREE ANIMU and then charges you for the only good looking version. The free stream is impossible to watch because the pixelation is god awful. If anyone wants to watch it for free and legally, just use the youtube version.

"available internationally on the authorized BitTorrent website"

Wait, what's this? I didn't hear about any official distribution using bittorrent?

Would ANN like to elaborate on this?

BitTorrent's website offers lots of legal downloads- Media Blasters sells a small assortment of anime and live action movies via bittorrent there. Gonzo worked on getting this available through lots of venues, so it's not like CR not having it will affect availability [myself, I'm just gonna wait for DVD's either way]

I'm guessing there's a fair amount of fish to all this. I hope Gonzo's woken up, and dropped them for less scummy multimedia sites.

Well here it is on BitTorrent. Now I would like to know what the heck is going on here.

You need BitTorrent DNA to see this video on the BitTorrent website. Maybe BitTorrent got upset with GONZO for not letting them in on the action. Laughing

I believe it could be something to do with Crunchyroll changing the format of the stream. Last time I checked it they seemed to have changed it to using "softsubs". I don't know if you could select which subtitles to use (because there are user-uploaded ones), but maybe it's something to do with that and Crunchyroll didn't let Gonzo know what they were doing, Gonzo didn't like it and told them to take it down.

Though, it's probably nothing to do with that, I don't think anyone knows, but it's most probably something on Crunchyroll's side seeing as it's up on all the other sites. It's strange how Blassreiter is still up though.

Also, I highly doubt it's anything to do with the money the show was taking in... seriously, there were a lot of donations. I don't think a lot of people on Crunchyroll are unwilling to pay for the show, they just don't have a clue what's going on. Just looking at the comments the vast majority of its users seem to be either illiterate, ignorant, too young to understand, or just plain retarded. I'd extend that to the staff, actually, I mean what kind of company with a $4m investment goes around using Internet slang on news headings and all that.

You were only seeing the top donators. It is known how low you can go to get those videos on Crunchyroll. Maybe a lot of people had the balls to do it.

Besides, those scripts in other languages should have been approved by GONZO first. English is a widely known 2nd language and those subs may not have been needed. It also could have gotten them in trouble in with the local networks.

Either way GONZO has a page up on BitTorrent now.

Yeah you could pay $0.01, but I'm pretty sure if someone's going to enter their credit card details, they're at least going to pay $2.

I'm probably completely wrong, but maybe.. just maybe.. the community pulled through and made this a success.

Let's have some optimism here.

No one knows any facts here, so I think we should just wait and see.

Is there really a "Shinji"? I always assumed "he" was a corporate figurehead, like Betty Crocker or the Pillsbury Doughboy. All "his" posts on the site seem phony as hell to me.

Gonzo should never have dealt with CR. They are too incompetent to handle this. The streaming service was completely unwatchable and there seems to be numerous problems with the downloads.

I can definitely tell you that at least one credit card user did not pay $2. Credit cards don't have fees for transactions. You can go as low as the system allows you to. Wink
