I don't know whether we should be excited or concerned about the franchise's future, though the fact that they're still keeping it alive without the need for Wi-Fi does give some hope.

It did have a wonderful eight-year run in terms of online service, especially with those collaborations (including with the Dead or Alive series, several anime, and even Capcom's Darkstalkers). Too bad it was never available outside of Japan.

Well, despite this, I'm not giving up hope for SK's future. No one should.

Eight years is really good run, especially now adays when most games are lucky to survive for 1 year. I too wish this was available in the west. I played the vast majority of these games (at least the ones they released in the west). The only one I hadn't beaten was the Neptune crossover but I will return to that one eventually. My favorite of the games is Deep Crimson.

I hope that Senran Kagura makes a comeback one of these days in some form. Truth be told I wished someone would try to resurrect the remains of "SEVEN".

I'm kinda sad that it mostly feel like the franchise "died" around the time Japan prepared for the Olympic,

Ever since then a lot of things happened behind the scenes especially for ecchi-related stuff, and Senran Kagura dev ended up leaving the company thanks to them telling him that "we now need logical reason for the girls to be nude" which killed the entire idea he had for the franchise's identity, and from there I feel like it lost it ever since,

though I do hope it's really not the end for it in general (and by that I also mean including its style, so it won't be just some soulless game that ride on the title name alone without actually be true to the frenchies idea)
