Ngl, I'm kind of conflicted. On one hand, it looks very Bebop and Watannabe is directing. On the other hand,

It really felt like with Space Dandy, terror in resonance and ESPECIALLY Carol and Tuesday ,Watanabe was trying to distance from looking too much like Bebop or Champloo.

This on the other hand, literally feels like AS forced him to be as Bebop as possible..

I genuinely hope it is good, but I also hope he actually wanted to make this.

Shinichiro seems to be pretty confident with Lazarus, I believe he mention in an interview that he sees it as one of the best projects he has directed, though I had to agree that out of all of the works he has done after Cowboy Bebop, this seems the closest to a sort of spiritual sequel, all of the works he had directed after Bebop seemed pretty different, even those who he said take place in the same shared universe like Space Dandy and Carole & Tuesday seem very different.
I have high hopes for Lazarus, I watched the original Cowboy Bebop twice and I really liked it, it's not like I'm a huge fan, but I recognized that it was one of the best anime series from the '90s. That said, I think most U.S. people, especially Cartoon Network themselves, hold Cowboy Bebop in very high regard, because it was a anime that was unlike anything else and I'm talking from a Latin American perspective, because here Bebop is more of cult series, it was popular among hardcore anime fans, but it's now that well known compared to its popularity in the U.S. I know that some people tend to mention that Bebop wasn't popular in Japan but that's false, it actually ranked in second place for the most popular anime in Animage magazine Anime Grand Prix in '98 and '99 and Spike was voted Best Male character in those awards as well, and it seems the series sold well on home video in Japan in the late '90s, it's just that anime fans from Japan moved on.
What I'm saying is that it always felt like Cartoon Network/[adult swim] has always tried to recapture Cowboy Bebop's success, sometimes I even think Bones (which was founded by some of the staff that worked on Bebop) also tried to recapture its success with series like Wolf's Rain and even the recent Metallic Rouge.

I’m hoping this is good. I wish they would allow some of these originals to have more than 13 episodes. Doesn’t give a lot of breathing room

Very strong We have Bebop at home energy. Watanabe fell off a cliff after Space Dandy. He needs a win to now become another Oshii, Tomino, Zemeckis or Lucas. I want to believe.

Very underwhelming OP, even ignoring it trying to be like Bebop really hard. Feels like half an opening stretched out to full-length. A shame because Carole & Tuesday's OP was fantastic

Well, I can see what Watanbe was trying to do with it at least.
