This is exactly why I can't stand the "competitive fighting game community". This line-up shows exactly what's wrong with them and why they absolutely reek of elitism and self-importance... Almost every single one of these games are the over budgeted, mainstream, massively overrated strictly rigidly-traditional AAA behemoths. The failing Street Fighter 6 being picked over literally any better game in the SF series, the massively loathed Mortal Kombat 1 which is clearly only included just because Warner Bros paid for it to be there, and generally just the same old overrated mainstays they trot out year after year..... But not a single game outside the elitist traditionalist ones... no Sparking Zero, and even in terms of what can only CHARITABLY be referred to as indie-adjacent that they included like, like Rivals Of Aether 2 (actually probably the only one they even did) for some reason, and nothing like Idol Showdown. Blazing Strike, Rumble Fish, or Pocket Bravery. It's just trotting out those lumbering, overrated long-in-the-tooth dinosaurs and dropping any past EVO game that used to be any actual fun to play.

You say all that when
A) Street Fighter 6 is literally the third best selling game in the series
B) Sparking Zero was never made for competitive play to begin with
C) Marvel vs Capcom 2 LITERALLY BEING IN THE MAIN LINEUP, as well as Killer Instinct, Caopcom vs SNK 2 and BlazBlue: CentralFiction being in the extended line-up
Just because you don't like certain games doesn't mean that others that do are "elitist" or anything like that. It's just that they mostly just stick with what's currently popular and available.

Most of what you said is up to opinions, but saying that Street Fighter VI is failing is actually insane lol

Being upset that Sparking Zero isn’t at EVO is like complaining that Go Fish isn’t part of the World Series of Poker

I also so like the idea of saying Warner Bros. Paid for Mortal Kombat 1’s inclusion which they apparently didn’t bother doing for EVO France last year.

People tried to play Sparking Zero competitively, it was miserable. There's a reason why arena fighters should just stick to being a thing you mash on with your friends lol

Don't they do DLC and game announcements at EVO? I assume EVO is like The Game Awards and other events that are more about marketing and advertisements which is why they focus exclusively on the newest releases. Never really watched it myself though.
I'm too old to learn a new fighting game. If it's anything after 3rd Strike I'm not really interested

That's not the case at all, Evo's focus is all about the tournament with con-like activities on the side. They focus on the newest releases because those are the game people play. People sticking with Super Turbo and 3rd Strike are not the norm, it's always been the case that once say Tekken 6 comes out people just naturally stop playing Tekken 5.
