Aren't a lot of our heroes high school aged or younger? Is it really a good idea to get them addicted to alcohol and gambling?
It's been what, 3 years at least? Plus the mocktails were non-alcoholic.

True. I think that the depetrified high schoolers are around 20 at this point. Add in that a legal drinking age is a social construct, and it comes down to whether they choose to follow an old-world law. The only one who specifically says they are too young is Suika.

I will say that episode 2 is kind of odd. Certain parts left me wondering if there is really enough run time to spend on them. On the other hand, the trip seems to be going by pretty fast, probably because there isn't time to spend on it and end up short changing the stuff in America, which clearly has some antagonists in it.

I do question including Hyoga and co. I think the only antagonist who really changed their ways was Tsukasa. Even Magma was, well, Magma when the opportunity presented itself in the last arc. Defeated enemies don't seem to become allies so much as learn to bide their time, and this is the second time where Hyoga gets revived when Senku wants something from him.

Have they said what time of year it currently is? If they expect to find wild dent corn in CA where he stuck his map pin, it doesn't snow there, except on rare occasions when a light snow might be on the ground for a few hours. If they're headed inland, they won't beat the snow anyway (given the images, I assume that's his concern), having to cross two mountain ranges to get there. Without irrigation, I wonder where they're going to find any west of the Mississippi. I look forward to seeing how they go about this.

Technically, all the characters from modern times are over 3000 years old, so they're way over the legal age! Plus, it wouldn't matter anyway since the modern society that made those rules don't exist anymore.

I don't read the manga yet the cuts and edits were quite obvious this time.

They were obvious before but this time was too much, from the camera stopping just 10cms before showing Kohaku's ass to the powerpoint presentation to the rushed explanations.

They really want to get to USA quick.

-----

So, I went and checked the manga and funny enough, the slideshow is actually in there, even more, the anime adds more scenes, funny.

They were lucky to arrive to California first, so it took them whole 12 to be shooted at.

I appreciate that America is represented by, in order, gators, corn, and guns.

Not much traffic here, so I'll repeat what I said elsewhere, along with some other thoughts.

Well, as a former Corn Belter and current Sacramentan, it's fun for me to see both mentioned in an anime, though I think the Delta wouldn't look like that even 3700 years from now without people. The only real banks the river has where they seem to be now would've been man-made levees, which without maintenance would've been long gone. And the constant shifting of river channels and islands from annual flooding is why there aren't a lot of big trees, certainly not redwoods (in the Bay area they're on the coast where the terrain is more stable). Also it would not have crocodiles, I don't care where they escaped from. Water's too cold most of the year. But goddamn, still can't get rid of the guns. Sad

I forgot it was previewed that they'd encounter people, so those people farming corn is less far-fetched than I was thinking. And though CA is hardly in the Corn Belt, Sacramento is one of the top three counties in CA for corn (Sutter to the north and Imperial on the Mexican border are the others), so I guess they picked right. He's also right to worry about hybridization. After all that time, it could well have reverted to something more like the older types with tiny little ears.

What I want to know is where he got a map? I can't remember if that was explained earlier or not. The only thing I can think of is Ryusui made it from memory, since he said he'd at least been to SF Bay.

It's insane how Tsukasa reacted to the attacks. Was he used to dealing with stereotypes?

This caused me to dig a little and hybrid corn relies on manual propagation and indeed some insist maize/corn would become extinct without human intervention as corn isn't good at competing against weeds and the seeds do not naturally fall off the cob and so can not germinate. The ancestor plant teosinte grass produces seeds that do fall off the plant and is naturally occurring in southern Mexico, so I'd bet there would be no corn in Sacramento...
