As a fan of Power Rangers and Sentai thos series has been very enjoyable. And with the themes of overcoming selfishness and prejudice it feels very relevant especially today.

Unfortunately, I have a huge aversion for shows where there is a character constantly commenting on the situation.

Red sure fills the archetype of a Red Ranger but I wonder if the opening is foreshadowing some depths about his personality and reason why he became Sentai. The ending seems to ship Red and the mage a lot though that approach Red has when it came to supporting her in the first episode kinda made her fall for him apparently. I loved the jokes about tropes of sentai not fitting a realistic fashion like the robots being useless in caves. Apparently, the singer of the insert song is famous for working in the several tokusatsu.

Enjoying it well enough, but I wish Yihdra was more of a supporting character rather than the de facto main character. The quest is about her goal (become king's mage again), she bring most of the events (picking fight with goon in ep 2) and may very well have more line/screen time than Red.

I was initially hoping this would be more about Red remaking his team in Isekai land (either new people or same one that would also get ported over), with maybe the bad guy from his world also being the demon lord. But it seems to just be following the same Isekai format of bumbling around till something happen.

Also, just like the usual Tokusatsu, I disappointed that the animal/dinosaur mech aren't used more and seem to only exist as an animation to making the mech. As is tradition I guess.

I've never been a fan of Tokusatsu shows (why, I couldn't tell you). Even so, I thought this was surprisingly hilarious. We'll see if it continues to wear well, but I was laughing a lot at this one. Let's hope it can keep it up.

spoiler[Feel like something got a bit lost in what you were typing but i think i get what you're trying to say. Yihdra is definetely the deuteragonist but her goal remains relevant. She even gets her own ranger form which the Anime ED spoils for some reason (no way it will appear proper in just one season)]

The final scene of ep2 sets up the plot moving forward and the show is (surprisingly) plot-focused rather than being monster/issue-of-the-week like tonkusatsu are famous for.

I haven't watch Ep. 2 yet, but it is a mixture of refreshing and ironic that one of the few main characters of an isekai anime with some personality is from a sentai series, who are not exactly deep written characters. Still, being obnoxious, loud, dense and irredeemable heroic means he has 4 more traits that the usual MC.

That's mostly my disappointment, she's a pretty boring protagonist and her goal is not particularly interesting, ultimately I'm watching this for Red and his antic. But she's the main character and Red is more like her "super power" (think Aqua to Kazuma).

I enjoy Isekai. I love tokusatsu. I grew up with Power Rangers. So obviously this is my new favorite show.

And I also just love how you can tell the creators know their Sentai down to the merchandisable gear, the Mecha's, casting Super Sentai vets as the Kizuna Five and as the monsters, and using in-universe episodes of the Kizuna Five show to help inform current events.

And so far I'm really loving Red and Yihdra's dynamic and shipping them.

I feel so far they're co-leads. Yihdra obviously has her goal of regaining her families' prestige and learning more about Red, but Red is still the hero of the story and dives straight into things and helps motivate Yihdra and improve her character in the process. It's why they work so well together.

Plus a lot of the humor is hinged on Yihdra, a fantasy mage, reacting to all the tokusatsu conventions Red brings out and how insane they come off even in a a fantasy setting. And I think she's a stellar straight woman.

You know what I resent about this show and Zenshu? Thanks to them, I can no longer claim that all recent isekai suck!!! Grrr, grrr. Oh well, I'll just have to somehow get on with my life. Anyway, the humour in this one is firing on all cylinders and I know this is a bit premature but I really get the sense it's gonna unleash some pretty decent story-telling chops, too. We'll see.
