Well that's a dub cast you don't see every day. I knew I recognized Xolo's name and it is indeed the Blue Beetle himself!

Netflix exclusive dubs always seem to go a slightly bit further than other dubs by having a random actor from a big show of theirs in the booth, in this case, Cobra Kai. I have no idea how Xolo is going to do as a dub actor though.

The names on the cast list are quite insane, aside from Matt Mercer, ProZD and Aleks Le who are regular dub actors (or irregular in Matt's case). Rosalie Chiang is Meilin from Turning Red. Xolo Mariduena needs no introduction, Dallas Liu is Zuko from the live-action Avatar series, and you got Alexa Bliss from the WWE?! Okay, I might watch it.

Yeah, I double checked but she’s apparently in the cast. Netflix and WWE wasting no time with their new contract it seems to promote the wrestlers. |

Rosalie Chiang!? Xolo Mariduena!? Honestly the least surprising member of the cast is frikkin' Aleks Le. Heck, that trailer is the best trailer this show has gotten, especially action-wise. |

This trailer unfortunately furthers my personal belief that Anime marketing just don't know how to make good trailers. This "hollywood" style trailer sold me way more on the anime than any of the previous ones, and this is coming from a fan of the manga!
Also, that cast tho. Never thought Id see Matt Mercer back, but I love Netflix and their union friendly dubs that occasionally have bigger names. Now both Matt ane Troy are leading a netflix anime lol. |

I had to look up some of the actors/actresses name that don't do or normally voice anime, and holy crap Netflix is getting some well-known actors/actresses that don't voice anime to voice anime characters. First they got Emily Rudd who played Nami in the live-action One Piece (which Netflix happened to produced and created) to voiced a main character in a anime that Netflix also happened to get too. And now Sakamoto Days is packing some big name non-anime VAs including a WWE wrestler to lend their voice. Is there a way in the future could Netflix be able to get these guys to make a return to anime voice-over in future anime acquisition that Netflix will get: Andrew Rannells, Camille Chen, Kether Donohue All 3 of the actors I listed above used to start out as anime VAs before they transitioned to non-anime stuff and they no longer do anime voice-overs although Kether Donohue does still do voice-overs but no longer doing anime voice-over/voice-acting. Maybe Netflix can convince Kether along with Andrew, and Camille to make a return to anime voice-acting now that Netflix is able to get Emily Rudd, Dallas Liu, and Alexa Bliss to do anime voice-acting. What would impress me is that if Netflix is able to get Bryan Cranston to make a return to anime voice-acting as a one-off opportunity given that Bryan started out as a anime VA before making it big with Malcolm in the Middle, and Breaking Bad. Although to be honest, I would want Bryan Cranston to do anime voice-acting for a future Studio Ghibli/Miyazaki's film, or a future Makoto Shinkai's anime film, or a future Mamoru Hosoda's film rather then a Netflix anime TV series or ONA given that these 3 directors are held at a very high esteem amongst A-list stars. But it would be kind of cool if Netflix was able to get Bryan Cranston to make a return to anime voice-over as a one off for a ONA. Being a union dub probably helps explain why the only people I recognized on the list were Mercer and Le. Netflix can still manage to snag actors who otherwise moved on since they can at least make it worthwhile. |

Whoa I didn't know Kimiko Glenn is jumping on anime after her debut in Star Wars: Vision. That's really cool to hear. I guess this mean we could see Kether Donohue, and Camille Chen could probably make a return to anime after all after many years of inactivity in their past anime voice-overs. I hope to see Bryan Cranston make a return to anime voice-acting in the near future. I'm willing to see Lindsay Jones could make a non-RWBY anime debut in the near future voicing a main lead protagonist in a future anime TV series or OVA in a similar manner that Emily Rudd got for Delicious In Dungeon assuming Netflix, Disney+/Hulu or whoever can get her a big anime voice over gig. |

A bunch of those seem like weird picks for voice actors but I loved Emily Rudd as Marcille so if whoever's in charge of casting can keep that level of quality going, I for one welcome our Netflix overlords.

I’m Not surprised, the moment that Bang Zoom!’s Social Media especially their Twitter starting reposting and retweeting the tweets of *Sakamoto Days* from the Netflix Anime pages hours after the trailer launched it was a no-brainer that Bang Zoom! was dubbing this since they literally dub most if not the majority the Big Major anime titles like Delicious in Dungeon, Zom 100, and more recently DanDaDan. Kind of gives me second thoughts regarding the Netflix Dubbing Partners list and wether if the US studios listed here were meant for all dub mediums (live-action and anime) or just the ones specifically doing the Live-Action dubs in General? We know that Netflix had stopped utilizing Iyuno and it’s divisions since last month following the leaks back in August hence why some of the anime productions recorded at Iyuno LA have or will be switched to VSI Los Angeles or other studios under the Netflix Dubbing Partners list. Studiopolis and Bang Zoom! we’re suddenly removed from the Netflix dubbing partners list just weeks after the Iyuno leak and I assume Netflix cut ties with those studios and no longer will have their productions dubbed at them moving forward or so it seems thanks to the reposts and Aleks Le’s post on Instagram, Bang Zoom! is now dubbing Sakamoto Days. Now there are two possible theories why Sakamoto was sent to Bang Zoom!: • Either the first half of the anime (the first 12-13 episodes) were recorded back in June/July of 2024 before Netflix dropped Bang Zoom! as their dubbing partner in August of 2024. However, there is a clause that any Netflix anime (original or licensed including new seasons and sequel series) recorded at Bang Zoom! before August 2024 will still be recorded at that studio in perpetuity while future Netflix anime post-August 2024 will be recorded at other studios under Netflix’s Dubbing partners list (e.g. VSI Los Angeles, Dubbing Brothers, etc.). OR • It was the Japanese Production Committee of Sakamoto Days, TMS Entertainment and not Netflix themselves (despite licensing and distributing the anime) who were the ones who commissioned the dub of Sakamoto Days to Bang Zoom! similar to the production committee of DanDaDan having the series to be dubbed at Bang Zoom!. Literally, the majority of the anime produced and distributed under TMS USA were commissioned to Bang Zoom! such as the Detective Conan Specials/Films and Undead Luck Still, it does raise eyebrows and scratching one’s-head why Netflix doesn’t have Bang Zoom! as a Dubbing Partner anymore since August 2024 when literally Bang Zoom! has been retweeting posts of Sakamoto Days says otherwise? But One thing that makes me more curious is whether this could open the doors for other new Netflix anime still being sent and commissioned to Bang Zoom! and possibly Studiopolis outside of Sakamoto Days and the new seasons and sequel series of other anime shows recorded at Bang Zoom! and Studiopolis (e.g. Bang Zoom!: Delicious in Dungeon - Season 2 and SDS: Four Knights of the Apocalypse; Studiopolis: Baki, Terminator Zero, etc.) |
