This is Oshii's one good live-action film and I like the artists but the film lives of its zany direction. You can´t replicate that on the page.

I wonder if this manga will get pick up for international release particularly for US/North America given that Dark Horse Manga did licensed, translated, and published Kerberos Panzer Cop in the past (does anybody know if Dark Horse still has the license?).

Dark Horse has a history with Oshii's work and it would be interesting to see if they could bring the manga to North America. However, the status of licensing deals often depends on demand and how well the work fits into the current market.

Panzer Cop´s 2nd of 2 volumes never left Japan and it being published a decade after the 1st lead to DH not doing it in the 90s. Neither of the 1 volume followups left Japan either. The only way to release the latest entry is though a compilation of all or something to excite collectors.

So I'm not sure if Dark Horse would re-license this series, or leave this up with another publisher like maybe Yen Press, or Seven Seas Entertainment if this manga is to get a US/North American release. |
