Initially skipped the premiere, watched a week later, thought it was alright. I like the idea of looking behind the scenes of a group of YouTube content creators.
Masaki is not portrayed as a good person, and there seems to be no rush to change that. Instead of addressing the fallout with her former friends, she basically escapes into the supernatural and gets surrounded by vampires who might help her rebuild her career.
Not sure where this is going, but it's enough fun to keep watching for now.

It's quite something that we have 2 P.A. Works originals in the same season, and this show felt clearer in its intentions and the characters so far. Masaki is going to be interesting to watch considering the mess she has made. And I actually like the part when Live wants to know more about her than just someone to blood lust over. There's also potential on Masaki's and Live's relationship which I hope grows into the direction I hope it goes towards to.

Maybe Masaki is finally starting to get a hint that she's not quite the genius she thinks herself to be.
It's unpredictable, the weird, random stuff that goes viral sometimes.

Decided to drop this one. Wasn't really vibing with it. I specially found it hard to root for Masaki because her only goal is "to get a lot of followers" seemingly just for the sake of it/to get back at her ex friends, and the videos she makes just strike me too much as mr beast/ logan paul/ pewdiepie type of clickbait "doing outrageous/stupid/dangerous thing just to get views", which is exactly the kind of thing I hate about youtube these days

It just dawned on me that the character designs for Mayonaka Punch is done by Tsukasa Kotobuki who had done the one of "the most 90s anime design ever" (see Saber Marionette J for example, but exclude the Gundam stuff). So it just neat to see that style adapted to the modern ages. And frankly, it really helps the comedy just to see these ladies in pain. I mean, where else can you see a bunch of vampires eat garlic on stream?

You know, I wasn't expecting a show about disaster lesbian vampires to make me cry, but here we are.

I didn't cry, but yeah, it was pretty touching! I've generally just been putting this show on while I do something more important, but I got really into this episode. Was completely taken aback by it.

My wife and I recently discovered the music of Boney M. so I had to send her the screen shot of the mixtape with "Ma Taker" by "Boney N." She replied like the reviewer did with "Wow, what a deep cut!"
Also, a testament to the show's world building is that I found myself genuinely curious about Aya's story. What happened to her? Did she manage to find success with her music? How did she die?
Overall, Mayonaka Punch has been a very pleasant surprise this season for me.

This week's episode review makes a good point that at the very least Masaki showed some consideration and empathy towards Fuu beyond just chasing for numbers. I really appreciate that and would love to see if there's going to be some follow-up in terms of Masaki's character. But hey, next week's episode seems to be a beach episode so there could be "spicy" developments!

I know this might not be popular thing to say, it is still a great series don't get me wrong, but this latest of this series did a better job of addressing non humans out living humans than Frieren did. It is more clear the story that was told here.

I was not expecting something like this episode out of this show. And I liked that they didn't try and happily-ever-after it. Even if they did add a video message to give Fu enough closure to move on, it still ended sad.
I also really liked that Fu went to New York with zero plan. She couldn't even speak English, but still managed to get the bar owner to give her Aya's guitar.
...and I only managed to figure out what 10 of the 11 songs on the mix-tape were. For the life of me, I can't figure out what West Coast / Feather is supposed to be :\

I wasn't sure on that one either. Reddit chat group seems pretty confident it's a reference to "Mull Of Kintyre" by Wings, which is contemporary (1977) to all the other songs on the list. And "Mull of Kintyre" apparently refers to the southwestern coast of Scotland.

I wasn't expecting this show to suddenly shift from comedy to tragedy, but also to do it gracefully. It probably won't dwell here for long, and we'll probably return to comedy for the next few episodes, but the writers seem competent enough to address the main cast's baggage that's been put off for now.

If I had one complaint with this excellent episode its that I wish we got to see more of the conversation between the bar owner and Fu. Partially because it sounds like PAW went out of their way to find a native English speaker for the role (or atleast someone fluent) and partially because im legit curious what happened to Aya.
That there was apparently no reporting on her passing implies she wasnt even a blip in the music world. I think she and bar guy tried starting a band together and it washed out; so they opened the bar together where Aya would sometimes perform which is where that commentor happened to see her whilst on a trip to New York.
The implication of course is that without Fu's singing she never got the break she hoped for and if thats the case way to twist the knife Mayopan.

My initial thought was that it was referring to a Wings song too, but none of their song titles had an obvious connection and I'm not familiar enough with their songs to make that connection based on lyrics.
