So disillusioning. Kind of anti-man this comic, yet sadly rather true.
Not all men are like that Nina. |

Shoujo manga/anime men are to be appreciated and enjoyed, but not believed in. Nina found out in a funny way, but it can also be dangerous ("oh, in XYZ manga, that jerk was actually nice on the inside . . . so I'll just stick around with this abusive guy, because HE'LL turn out to be nice too!" No, it doesn't work that way). I love me some shoujo, but I'll stick with my real-life nice guy, flaws and all, thanks.

Probably the most true thing I've heard this week. Shoujo anime men are nice to look at and a good boost up for morale on those tough weeks, but they don't act like real men any more than shoujo heroines act like real women. I mean, c'mon, when was the last time you conveniently fainted in the arms of a good-looking guy or came down with a suspiciously well-timed fever? If I tried that, I'd fall in front of a speeding pickup or nail my would-be rescuer in the eye with an elbow or something. ...unless you really are one of the above stereotypes, in which case you're probably a freak of nature. |

I think Kevin looks just dashing in Shoujo form (but then aren't all men depicted in Shoujo incredibly gorgeous?).
Shoujo has been mentioned twice so far on Anime News Nina (if I remember correctly). Once at the convention, and now this. I would appreciate a comic where Nina is shown watching a typical Shoujo series, just as you did with Shounen and Daisuke. But anyway, a great comic this week. P.S. Does Nina have a crush on Kevin? Why else would she expect something from him for Valentines Day? |

Priceless, just priceless! I recently had an experience like this after surfacing from a rather generic shojo manga.

Heck, licking the cheese dust off fingers is actually the single best thing about eating cheese-flavored junk foods... And I, for one wouldn't waste a good cheese dust-covered finger by sticking it in my nose. ![]() |

It seems to go both ways. It's probably just a side-affect of too much wish-fulfillment anime/manga. That and Valentines Day makes people take desperate measures. |

Wow, to me this was one of the funniest issues yet.
![]() You captured the shoujo flair very well, and the ensuing contrast was suitably painful. And of course, the 'GAH' face is absolutely priceless. Greatest Valentine's Day themed web comic yet! |
