Mixed bag on this.. The original was a product of its time, and between it and To Heart 2 literally defined a genre. On one hand its good to see some older titles getting some attention, on the other hand its fine as is. I'd be wary of changing anything or trying to modernize it in fear of revision killing it.

A great example would be Tsukihime. I enjoy the original, and I enjoy at least so far.. the remake. IMO already too much has been altered for me to recommend it over the original.

Does it really need a remake? I haven't played the novel.

I appreciate them giving you the option of using the original voice cast.

Thought I read somewhere that this was a remake of the 18+ version, so the original cast wouldn't be Yui Horie and the others from the anime/all-ages version, but instead the cast from that version. Not finding where I saw that either way, though, and not feeling well enough to dig for it, so don't quote me. I'm not a fan of them recasting one of Yui's iconic roles instead of bringing her back, so I'm hoping that's the case, even if her old version would still be on there.

This would be a way better situation than we got with the Fruits Basket remake, at least, though.... Still haven't forgiven them for that one, nor do I intend to ever touch that version, but a good part of my vitriol towards that is that I read somewhere that the author demanded the cast and crew be all new, so since that's one of the roles that cemented me as a Yui fan, I took that personally.
