I have to assume that he'll be removed as well from his role as Yamcha in Dragon Ball Daima when the series premieres. I don't know if he participated in Sparking Zero, but if he did, I imagine that it will be his last work for the franchise (if they don't replace him for the final release). In any case, despite being one of his most iconic roles, I can't think of any reason why he couldn't be replaced at this point, considering that he even had to withdraw from voicing a character that was named after him.

I believe Daima is done recording anyways. That will probably be his last.

make sense because in Japan, voice acting is typically done before animation to ensure that the animation matches the dialogue and emotions perfectly.

Imagine being a legendary seiyu, voicing characters in anime since its beginnings, being blessed by eternally youthful sounding voice which, being the voice of some of the most iconic characters in history of anime, building your image over the decades, and becoming basically a living treasure of Japan, world-wide known, and on top of that being married, and ruining all of that in your late years...

IMO,Toru Furuya was always THE seiyu; I even believe that he would have had the role of adult Goku, if he didn't already have Yamcha (iconic character in his own right), and if they haven't decided for Masako Nozawa to continue having the role.

By the time one is in their 60s, they are kind of supposed to have made the peace with themselves, others, and the world, and not, well, do stuff like Furuya did.

To even step down from voicing character who was created in his honor...

I don't see Furuya as victim at all, but as his long time fan,I just can't help but think "You poor fool..."

I just hope that his ultimate way of saying sorry to everyone, won't be the worst possible thing he can do to himself.

Sorry for posting again, Furuya deleted his twitter account. The one you have on the news is not his.

Is that really typical? I thought only Ufotable did that.

This is not only untrue, it is exactly the opposite. How much anime have you watched? Lip flaps in anime notoriously do not match the words spoken. Ufotable has gone on record about how the fact that they actually did record before animating was unusual by industry standards, for, if memory serves, the UBW anime.

If you don't know about this, that clearly means you only watch English dubs. There are even YouTubers who have already made videos about this.

Guess Morita will remain as Seiya after all. I think the last time Furuya voice Seiya was in Omega but I don't understand well why considering he had the same appearance despite having a different character designer.
