The series will have multiple seasons.

Maybe they should wait to see the numbers for season 1 before promising season 2, 3, 4 etc.

Dante looks like Rin from Blue Exorcist. Also sounds like he has a new VA?

I'm wondering if this will be a prequel to DMC3 considering the design of the guns.

Awesome news. I remember reading about this project a couple of years ago but thought it had been canned due to the lack of news... glad to see I was wrong. Looking forward to this one for sure

I think the general trend these days is to order a batch of episodes initially then break it up into seasons afterwards. I imagine their season 2 is just the second half of the initial order.

Yeah, Netflix loves doing this, but I find it needlessly complicated (and I hate having to explain this to people IRL all the time.

I remember watching the old Devil May Cry Anime several years ago and it was decent to watch.

This new vers of DMC can work with the same formula that netflix did with Castlevania and such, hope it turns out well.

Fun fact: the original anime is cannon to the series' plot.

Semi-canon. DMC5 retconned some details. Morrison is probably the most extreme change. He's an almost completely different character in 5.

Hideaki Itsuno has also confirmed on Twitter that he is "supervising it properly".

I remember reading Adi Shankar wanted to have DmC have a crossover with Castlevania since he consider both series as part of his "bootleg universe". Hopefully he abandoned this idea since both franchises are owned by different companies and have different tones.

So Studio Mir (the same animation that did Lookism for Netflix) is doing the animation, I wonder why Adi Shankar didn't get Madhouse Studio to do the animation, they were the one that did the 2007 series, it would've made sense to ask the same studio to handle the animation (well that and that would've given the Netflix's Devil May Cry series the anime label it needed if Madhouse did the animation). The animation looks good and promising, but I wondered what it would've looked like it Madhouse was given a 2nd chance to do the animation.

Oh, speaking of the 2007 series:

The Devil May Cry game series previously inspired a 12-episode television anime series by Madhouse in 2007. ADV Films and later Funimation released the series on home video. Crunchyroll began streaming the anime in June 2017.

Are there any plan for Funimation to have the 2007 series available on Netflix? I mean when the live-action Cowboy Bebop is on Netflix, we also got the animated series available on Netflix too. The same thing happened for One Piece, live-action series came out and now the anime is also coming to Netflix.

Hopefully the 2007 anime series will come to Netflix to cash in on the Netflix's adaptation.

Well, there are surely circumstances about that - in 2007 Madhouse was not entirely owned by NTV — let alone the director of the first anime (Shin Itagaki) now has his own studio Millepensee.

Cool, seems like they're starting a bit before DMC3 considering his guns look like run of the mill pistols, not Ebony and Ivory, though the logo clearly has them.
