There's no reason to assume this is Mercer's last time. Kevin Dorman played Chris in Umbrella Chronicles, and was recast in re5. Chris went on to have two more voice actors in games, and they still brought him in for Vendetta. Capcom has no loyalty to any actor and anything is possible.

Yeah its schlock, no surprises here. We will probably die of old age before we get a horror movie based on the RE series.

There would never be a straight horror movie based on RE though since the series was never straight horror to begin with as much as people love to pretend it was.

Kevin was going to reprise Chris in RE5,but due to being busy with Avatar(he mostly works as a stuntman and mocap actor for movies and games),he had to quit and was replaced with Roger Craig Smith.

It's ridiculous how inconsistent the voice casting can be in this franchise. Infinite Darkness brought back the most current game voices for Leon and Claire, but for this one they keep the current voices only for Claire and Jill, and for Leon they bring back the previous guy. And the running gag of Chris not sticking with the same actor for more than one project is still going strong...

It's even funnier when you realize that the actor for Carlos in 3Make wound up becoming Chris for Village.

Unlike their English cast, Capcom Japan has remained consistent with the seiyuu they appoint for the most part. Granted, Morikawa Toshiyuki had an established history with Ryu (SFA3, MvC, CvS series, MSHVSF Capcom Fighting Evolution, N×C), only to be replaced from Street Fighter 4 onward, he's had steady work as Kojuro in Sengoku Basara, Leon S. Kennedy since RE6, and of course, Dante.
