Slight edit to the Budokai Tenkaichi series recap. You just described the Budokai series, being 3D models on a 2D plane, and its progression with each title (ie 2 bringing fusions and 3 bringing in GT). The Budokai Tenkaichi series was a different fighting games series that had it so both fighters could fly around a 3D field and fight each other in real time.

I'll cop to this one because it's distressingly easy to throw me off with names. We're in the process of fixing this one up; sorry for the errors.

Something I like about Ángel is that she breaks the latin character>dark skin archetype.

In Latam your skin color it's a lottery, one of my brothers it's the same skin color as Obama and the other is so white he was once asked what part of Scandinavia was he from.

I don't know which fans prefer, but Budokai sounds like it'd make for a more fun game to come back than Budokai Tenkaichi lol

The pricing on those Overwatch skins is absurd. The "problem" it seems like Blizzard will have with any collab, unlike some other games, is that regardless of the skin, they need to keep the character's silhouette/profile. You can always tell who your opponent is at a glance.
If the skin changes how the character physically looks it could lead to confusion and complaints from players. So they'll probably always be (mostly) recolors. You'd think this would lead to cheaper skins since it's presumably less work, but clearly Blizzard doesn't see it that way Laughing

This is totally a thing! You bring up a very valid point!

A lot of people in Latin America can wind up taking on after their European ancestry (given the, uh, history in Latin America, there are Europeans somewhere in people's family trees). So there are a lot of Latin Americans who can pass for white. To not put too heavy a brush on the subject, there are issues with colorism in Latin America where folks with darker skin are prejudiced against, but it's nevertheless valid to represent Latin Americans with lighter skin. Off the top of my head, the only other lighter-skinned Latin American characters I can think of are Honey Lemon in Big Hero Six and Alma Armas in VA-11 Hall-A--and theirs is a case of being blonde along with being naturally tan, so I don't blame folks for not even realizing that they're both Latinas in the first place.

I can also testify for this on my own behalf: I was born on the browner side, but my sister was born white enough for people to wonder if she wasn't a lovechild. There was a shop owner we'd see often in Old San Juan, he once asked my sister if she was Mediterranean. Laughing

A few years ago the EVOGA team gave an interview to the Mexican gaming channel/magazine Atomix, it was quite interesting to hear how a small team like them were able to collaborate with SNK. The interview was done when KOF XIV was released and they were not very impressed with the game. I have to admit that Rage of the Dragons has some of the best graphics on the NeoGeo, though the game is very difficult.
Speaking of SNK's popularity in Latin America, I was able to find an episode of the Argentinean series, El Club del Anime" which I used to watch as a child, where they showed a convention that took place in 2001 and I noticed people cosplaying as Kyo, Iori, Athena and Shingo. Although I would say that here in Argentina the most popular fighting game is Mortal Kombat, many played it in the arcades (or fichines as we call them here) or in pirated versions for the Sega Genesis. Scorpion has become a meme here because of the "Scorpion Matero" thing (a photo of a guy in a Scorpion cosplay drinking yerba mate)
One thing is that despite the popularity of SNK and anime in general in Latin America, no anime based on any SNK games like Fatal Fury have been dubbed into Neutral Spanish, unlike the Street Fighter, Tekken, Virtua Fighter anime and the Mortal Kombat cartoons which were broadcasted on television here.

I remember when the movie Encanto came out there was a controversy regarding the character of Pepa, many people outside of Latin America couldn't believe that there were white Colombians. Honestly as somebody living in South America most of the representation I've seen of Hispanic people in various media made in the U.S. leaves much to be desired, sometimes I feel it just perpetuates a lot of stereotypes of what non-Latin American people think about the region, particularly thinking that all of Latin America is just like Mexico.
Speaking about videogame characters, I know a lot of Mexicans that hate the character of T.Hawk because he looks more like an stereotypical U.S. Native American than a Mexican one, they reacted a lot better to El Fuerte while Lily from SF6 got a mixed reception. Also, the South America Team from KoF XIV wasn't well received either, perhaps that's why they didn't reappear in KoF XV

First amendment covers deepfakes so there's not really anything people can do about them any more than people who draw lewd fanart or photoshopped images of people.

Budokai Tenkaich was fun back in the day. I'm looking forward to playing a new one. Not a fan of DBZF much outside the art style and animations or more competitive fighting games.

Only experience I have with NFTs are those nice looking FF7 figures. Pre-ordered the Tifa one because, well, it's Tifa, and very nicely sculpted.

Giving pants to Tatsumaki completely misses the point of her character.

As a little kid going to Mexico to visit my grandparents my first experience with maquinitas “arcades” was Kof 97. I use to follow my older cousin and got hooked. Started exchanging my pesos for the 50c coins. The lady’s in the store always remembered me and my name even throughout the years as I only went once every two years (rip Berta). I’ll never forget getting beat on the sticks and having to wait my turn to play again since it was winner stays on the machine. Orochi iori Ralph were my main two ide always switch my third but I did use Leona a lot. Thanks for this article really brought up some old memories . Shout out to neo geo 98 the greatest arcade soccer game

But they didn’t put pants on the Kiriko skin though. They simply removed the leggings of her default outfit.
