Maybe, maybe not. It would depend on whether or not the maid volunteers would be acting only as greeters, or if they would be part of the serving staff as well.

If the volunteers will only be greeting the customers, I don't think that's too bad. It shouldn't be too difficult to train someone in a short period of time to do that. However, if the volunteers will also be serving, then Peter Tatara is setting himself up for disaster, for you'll have some inexperienced kids who want to dress up running around with food. If the second situation is so, then it'd be better to hire a professional wait staff. And there are themed restaurants out there that involve "dressing up," so it is possible to find professionals who will do that sort of degrading job. Laughing

I hope it's not an excuse to sell overpriced food.

I've been to MEFLE in Akihabara. Don't see what all the controversy is all about. Just cute girls serving you tea with photos and games (and reflexology at some). We should have more of them, don't ya think Anime exclamation ?

Unless I am mistaken, there was a cafe similar to this concept at this year's Kawaii Kon back in April. I'll try to get more details about it, since my memory's a bit foggy about it.

I know for sure that Fanime 2007 did Maid Cafe and it was a good success. There was training for it too because all the volunteers were really into it.

Yeah, it doesn't sound like news. It's more like advertisement..

Seriously, how many CUTE girls are actually going to volunteer. Don't they have better things to do? I think they do.
