Wow, a fourth season?!
You know one of these days I need to start following this, but since there's been rumors that Geneon might get a hold of it makes me want to just wait until the DVD are released.

Awesome. Though I still need to watch the third season first.
Come on, Geneon, hurry up and announce it already.

I think we can safely say it's more than rumor. At the Geneon Producers' panel at AX, they were asked about it, and they actually consulted their product marketing guy before answering the question. From transcripts I read from someone on IRC who was there, they said "We can't announce anything yet", then continuing with things like, "It's a great show", "we'd like to see it released in the US", "Surveying now", "whole box set only".
Sounds to me like they have it but they were waiting until a later event. My money's on them announcing it at Otakon this weekend. Mamiko Noto (who voiced Shimako in the series) is guest of honor and I think they might be planning to have her on hand at the panel when they announce it.
Add to that the faux pas Diamond comics made a few months ago about a sub-only, complete box set being listed for preorder (like they would do with Xenosaga later only to have ADV confirm the licence a few days later).
Thus personally, I'll be very surprised if Geneon doesn't announce Marimite at Otakon this weekend.

This is great news! I really love MariMite as should be evidenced by my username and avatar. Yumi Fukuzawa is one of my favorite anime characters and her seiyuu Kana Ueda is one of my favorites. I am so happy that they are making more of one of my favorite anime. I just hope that all of the anime and the manga get licensed and released in the USA. I want Geneon to get the anime and Seven Seas to get the manga. I think that both companies would do really great jobs with them.

Considering how well Kasimasi: Girl Meets Girl is doing for them, and that they've picked up Strawberry Panic! as well, I imagine Marimite is in their sights. Though personally I'd be hoping for the novels.
And a caveat on expecting Geneon to announce the anime this weekend: this is only my theory, and while it seems all too good an opportunity for them to announce it with one of the show's voices on hand, they may not announce it. Like Bandai with Code Geass at Anime Expo (though everyone's betting their shirt that's the title they're "saving for Otacon"). I don't know how much longer they can keep it under wraps though. It's not like Bandai, who I rate an even money bet to make a quip about "wanting to announce it at AX but we hadn't finished negotiating with Pizza Hut yet"

Seven Seas could license the MariMite light novels and manga like they licensed the Strawberry Panic! light novels and manga. Both should do very well. I prefer manga myself. However, I haven't read any light novels yet.

I'd love for the novels to get licensed. I'm not expecting it anytime soon though. After the anime has gained it some name recognition and light novels have proven to do well, then maybe. But the novel series is long, its around 30 volumes and still going I believe, so it would be quite an endeavor. It sounds like the writing style could make for a challenging translation as well.

This is great I was just starting to get disappointed that the OAV season is almost over and I wasn't gonna have more to watch after. I'll definitely watch this and also buy any DVDs anyone might want to announce anytime soon.
