Was that a woman with 3 boobs? And she only bothered covering 2 of them? Interesting...

Should I have been expecting a Total Recall homage? Mostly because you cannot look at that design and not think Total Recall.

Compared to other Western game to anime adaptions, this will probably be worth it just for Trigger alone.

The game had its issues, but I actually really like the city and the world in general. Hope the anime is gonna recreate that well Smile It looks promising for now!

My expectations were muted and they still underdelivered. The art style is a bad fit for the IP, the animation in the full clip is ass and none of this looks interesting. Not that the glut of Cyberpunk 2077 comics delivered.

I mean, underdelivering and being completely uninteresting are staples of the Cyberpunk 2077 experience, so I suppose it's thematically fitting?

I dunno, if anything Trigger's garish, brightly-colored style is a perfect fit for Cyberpunk.

Great chances this will be better than the game. I just love the worldbuilding of the PRGs and the game, so this should be cool.

It's curious that this was announced in the same week I started reading Neuromancer.

Also, was that Death Metal?

The animation looks cool. Hopefully it turns out well storywise.

Wasn't this game badly received? Why is it getting an anime and from a studio as prestigious as Trigger?

Because Trigger signed the deal before the game came out (I know it was announced before the game released)
And because Trigger seem to be moved by their own personal passions rather than trying to follow profits in the same way others would (please notice how they haven't done an adaptation ever since Inou-Battle and Ninja Slayer. This would be their 3rd adaptation. Most other studios, prestigious or not have anime original as a minor part of their catalog and most of it is adaptations), so I've a feeling that if the people over at Trigger personally enjoyed the game (different tastes are a thing. In the end, people can enjoy stuff with poor public reception and reviews) or saw something in it that made them want to do this, they would regardless of public reception

The anime was first announced 2 years ago before the game was even released.

As someone who's followed R. Talsorian's Cyberpunk since the very first edition of the RPG in 1988, more than the videogame, this feels like the ultimate ideal endgame for Mike Pondsmith's brainchild.
