From looking at the site, I have to say, this movie's gonna be great with it's confirmed cast and the Mach Five looks tight.

I would hypothetically agree with u on that. The cast does look promising and the Wachoski Brothers should be a interesting mix. I am looking forward to it regardless of future speculations to whether its good or bad; I still want to see it.

Me...i'm not feeling so hot about this. I think Hirsch is a good actor but I can't see him as Speed as well as I once thought. After seeing all the people on video page, i'm starting to wonder how they'll look in costume.

For some reason...I thought it was a girl with the monkey who helped speed- not a boy. In fact...wasn't it a girl with blonde hair in two pigtials?

Regardless of that i'm a bit worried.

That was friggin' Inspector Gadget! With a dog! Speed Racer had a little boy with brown hair and a hat with a monkey.

I'm not looking forward to this for three reasons.

One, the Whachowski Brother And Sister. After The Matrix Revolutions and V for Vendetta, they lost their touch big time. And not talking to the press is cowardly, but I'll save that for another day.

Two, the casting. They nailed Speed and Racer X, I'll say that much, but Cristina Ricci as Trixie and Susan Sarandon and John Goodman as Mom and Pops is horrible miscasting. Just horrible.

Lastly, it seems that the source material is being taken seriously. WTF? Half of the fun in Speed racer was the bad overdubbing! Taking it seriously will ruin the fun. I don't want any drama, just action, explosions, and laughably bad dialog.

Gawd, I hope they don't do a live-action Evangelion movie, then I'll just die...

I thought the Matrix Revolutions was the live-action Eva. Rolling Eyes

Looks like the Kappa Mikey people are producing a third cartoon Hey, LG! If you got that kinda dough, how about givin' us a subbed version of the show?! Ugh. The plot thickens. He's Speed's son! Rolling Eyes

From Entertainment Weekly:

You're in Germany right now preparing for Speed Racer, right?
Yeah!

Why did you want to make Speed Racer?
Because Larry and Andy Wachowski are some of my favorite directors. The Matrix trilogy for me is a huge achievement in cinema, and I love their other film, Bound. It's a new type of film for me. I like that. It's a really great script. And we're shooting it in a way that's totally a new experience for me and something I don't know a whole lot about. On Into the Wild, every frame was real and outdoors. I was really next to a mountain. And this is all green screen, so it's challenging for me.

Is there real driving?
I went to visit the simulator today and it was crazy. It's a film I would really want to see.

And is there a monkey in the film?
Oh yeah. Chim-Chim.... One of the biggest reasons that I wanted to do Speed Racer was because it was Kurt Cobain's favorite cartoon. And he used to slap stickers of Chim-Chim on his electric guitars. I was like ''Alright, done!''

According to IMDB, PETA is outraged that the chimp might have been smacked on the set after biting someone.
