Has Jump always been this bad at canceling good series and keeping useless crap? Its only since Manga Plus started that I check out everything in it, and in that time there have been several good series that have been canceled prematurely while garbage series continued longer.

They are doing the same thing they have been doing for years which is canceling unpopular series. I liked the series but that doesn't change the fact that it has ranked very poorly for a long time and has been selling very low numbers. I Tell C and Kowloon's Ball Parade are also doing very poorly and will likely be canceled in the coming weeks.

Shame...it really picked up with the mAR arc.

There are plenty of other series I can name which should be cancelled instead of this one.

I was enjoying it, but at least it got a proper ending & epilogue. I did prefer the earlier parts that were more focused on comedy then what it became though. Hopefully his next series can maintain it's tone and not need to shift.

I kinda sadly saw it ending soon when spoiler[they killed Orpheus]. I thought it was a good series. This was also my first Shonen Jump title ending in less 52 chapters. And after seeing that time skip ending I'm even more sad it ended because it showed a bunch of potential.
EDIT: Sorry. I'll be more careful adding Spoiler tags from now on.

Added spoiler tags - Errinundra.

This seems like a recurring problem for Tamura. He has really interesting ideas, but struggles with where to take a series after the initial premise. Although I can imagine some of the awkward shifts here (like the change to a relatively more straight-laced and serious battle manga) was out of pressure to try to make it popular.

Still managed to pull off a fairly good ending, despite the part that screamed "this was going to be the final arc if I had more time".

It started as a wacky comedy* about a out of place hard-boiled cop, yes, then it changed into action. While the action was good, the change couldn't save the series. And, still, it survived more than other.

But in the end, sudden the change of tone from comedy to action not always work.

* seriously, one chapter was about guys putting themselves in danger just to have a chance of looking at the female cop's boobs.

What?! I didn't know this thing was ever in danger of cancellation I thought it was safe from that. At least it got a nice year long run in the magazine which is something that not a lot of other cancelled manga can say.

It was pretty consistently towards the bottom of Jump's table of contents, the writing was on the wall for a while.

Yeah when the latest volume sold less than Build King, a series that was already cancelled, it was clear that this series was out the door. We've got 2 new series entering the magazine so presumably another one will be cancelled next week.

I thought this series only fell because it had a few rough chapters, but it turns out it was already doing bad in the polls since the beginning?

The idea was really interesting though!

This flop that never really knew where to go should've been cancelled like 1-2 circulations ago instead of sacrificing better and more successful series like Phantom Seer for it.

And for that? Because the author did one boring series that happened to get somewhat successful and then already had his first flop afterwards? The editors should live in the here and now instead of trying to give special treatment for (faint) past glory.
