Oh, 2chan. They're so crazy.
Notice Yaranaika to the left? I also have to laugh at how quickly they scattered when the police came. |

I like how the one guy literally ran through the camera trying to get the hell out of their and not get caught up in this mess. The cops breaking the whole thing up was gold though. People should obey traffic laws and not stand in one place for so long.

I don't know if Tokyo traffic regulations restricting how long people can stand in one place, but I do know that part of the road was pedestrian-only and had no traffic (Hokousha Tengoku 歩行者天国) at specific time and day of a week. I suspect those policemen might think this flash mob-like event qualified as a rally (which requires application through police) and not just a few bunch of people fooling around. |

Man, I love flash mobs. Especially Japanese nerdy-as-hell flash mobs in Akihabara. <3

That's right—the most famous of those impromptu dance-offs took place on Chuo Dori, the literal "main street" of Akihabara, last Sunday, and Sunday is the pedestrian-only day on that street. http://www.akiba.or.jp/etown/index.html Last edited by Egan Loo on Fri Apr 13, 2007 4:09 pm; edited 2 times in total |

Wow, this just made my day. Thanks for that. Would have loved to seen that in Akiba when it happened... Cops had to ruin all the fun though...

Man, the soundtrack for that show must be really successful in Japan. I'd imagine that was the toughest part of it being licensed here.

Doesn't surprise me everytime I see a new one of these videos. But this one takes the cake. The police at the end is classic.
