Well then, that's a big drop for Viz titles on Funi's service. Both in majority series and film/movie variants. And I'm hoping that the Infini-T Force movie "Farewell Friend" is included with the series too. (Since I've yet to see the movie, but seen the entire series. And also if they'll include dual audio.)

Surprised Sailor Moon (Outside of the R movie on YT/CR/Funi, etc.) isn't on the list, considering they're adding the other long runners (Bleach and Jojo, though not all of the episodes as of current stateside). So its still Hulu exclusive. (Unless otherwise noted.)

So are Viz stepping back from Anime, or are these just licenses that expired and they didn't bother renewing them.

It's probably neither. Its just funimation offering viz money for rights to also stream the shows like what crunchyroll also offers viz. Sort of like how yashahime is run by viz but they let both funimation and crunchyroll stream it (maybe Hulu as well)

Yeah, Viz isn't dropping anything, just shifting around where it streams. More stuff has been showing up on Funimation and Crunchyroll and less on Hulu.

Viz has always had a relatively smaller library with its most prominent anime being big Shonen Jump titles. Viz has always said its a manga publisher that also happens to license some anime.

48 episodes for Jojo's is very peculiar. Parts 1-3 would be 74 episodes total, so I hope that's just a typo. Also why couldn't they add Part 4/DiU? Adult Swim's exclusivity has expired and it's not streaming anywhere, so I hope they add that too.

And did HBO get exclusivity to the Hunter x Hunter dub? They're the only place streaming the entire thing.

Only 109 episodes of Bleach is also baffling. Guess Hulu contracts?

Yes that makes sense, I didn't take into account that they don't have their own streaming service.

Well, its not exclusive, per se, but Hulu has both the original and Final Act in its entirety.

Other streaming platforms like CR and Funi only have up to Episode 54 of the original. But they don't have Final Act.

well, so long as this means the titles are available on funi’s streaming app worldwide...

too many shows get stuck on hulu, which I can’t access here in Europe. Sailor Moon is a big one. I tried really hard the other day to find it streaming legally so a friend and I could group watch it on Tutturu or Discord. didn’t really want to fart around with a VPN just to watch a show that has been entirely repackaged and uncut with a brand new dub and SHOULD be available in some form... but won’t be rereleased over here on physical media because both manga uk and mvm had a bad experience with it in the early 2000s.

sorry to turn this into a rant about Hulu, but like. too many shows are locked away on there when I just wish there could be a worldwide streaming option. (Cough Animaniacs 2020 cough cough)

I'm curious to know which version of Jojo's season one they'll be streaming since as far as I'm aware Hulu is the only site who has the uncensored version. I also hope they won't have the issue Netflix had where they had dubtitles for the Japanese version.

Funi's streaming service is not available worldwide. No way they're gonna let go of their beloved geoblock just for these Viz titles.

Poor phrasing on my part, sorry.

In that case, why doesn't Viz just stop going against its own interests and let FUNimation handle the anime licenses? If it feels more comfortable handling manga and leaving anime on the backburner, then they should stick to what they want, not what they feel that they want. All this is doing is trying the patience of the anime fandom and putting them between a rock and a hard place on enjoying their anime legally!
