That’s awesome to see manga assistants be privy to some American pop culture. I love Meg too. She’s definitely a fan of anime.

Why do people keep using the unofficial name "Miruko" when her official name has been Mirko ever since she had her manga debut? She's even based on a martial artist named Mirko.

Fan translations used Miruko from the katakana first and it stuck. Sometimes the fan translation names win out and sometimes they die out, simple as that

I’m pretty sure the Viz translation was simultaneous even back then right? So the fan translation may have been “first” if they used leaks, but only by a couple days. Both the manga and anime her name has always been Mirko.
