Gee, it's almost like acting incredibly late leads to things opening up later than expected.

As much as I selfishly want new anime episodes, Japan and all other countries should maintain restrictions for as long as possible.

They seem to be handling it as bad as several western countries have handled it.

We handled it much worse. It take long to explain how Japan handled it. COVID-19 response likely much worse the in the West. It also does not help that hard to actually perform social distancing in many cities. Japanese work places also not designed for working-home. Many Japanese people consider having home PC to be luxury any way.

Does not help that many Japanese just put on mask go about normal life anyway. I live near Ueno park was crowed this weekend according to NHK. I went to Life store across street for basic foods was busy.

No one believed things return to normal early May.

Definitely worse in some cases; a lot of it can be chalked up to Abe and the LDP downplaying the severity of Japan's case because they want the Olympics to happen no matter what, but then countries starting pulling out and the IOC with them. And considering how more people are being even mildly vocal about criticizing the current government (Gackt for instance said they did an inadequate job) that whole plan blew up in Abe's face. And he deserves it.

It seems Japan got caught off-guard, and now people are saying the healthcare system's on the brink of collapse because of this. Given how bad things already were, I wouldn't be surprised if companies start outourcing more of their work.
