It could work, but I'd have preferred the Wachowskis did Superman Returns, since Matrix Reloaded was aesthetically
closer to Superman than Singer's film. (Of course, Singer's only experience in comic book film is copying the Matrix, so that makes sense... ) Though the idea of them doing a comedy for a change is kind of weird, and I hope it won't be as lame as that bondage scene in Revolutions. Why do I have a feeling Trixie will be played by Lohan? *sigh* Benicio Del Toro would make a good Speed IMHO.

I second that.
I'm not to sure about Benicio Del Toro making a good Speed, though.

Yay! This will definately be interesting! Me and my friend are getting into this anime again, so seeing Speed Racer on the front page made me squeal like a 12 year old Naruto fangirl I have my Trixie cosplay ready by then hopefully...my friends is already working on her Speed....heheheh. GATSU's probably right about Lindsay Lohan playing Trixie...she'd probably be good at it though, as long as she doesn't do what she's been doing, or rather not doing, on the set of her latest movie ;p

Right, I'm sure you can do better than that, Gatsu.

They had to pick some of the worst directors for this film.
I think it'll bomb for sure.

Hey, I'm actually looking forward to this movie. I'm pretty sure Vince Vaughn will do awesome, because he's a good a good actor. I'm sure it won't be that bad. X3

"They" are the guys who wrote the screenplay for the project. Say what you want about the 'Matrix' trilogy you can do alot worse than Wachowski bros. I believe they are very talented.

God i have the crazy dub in my head. And i loved the show, G-force, Speed Racer, and Robotech just like many here i guess, made me a anime head long before i know what anime was.
I would not call my self otaku cause i've read more US comic books then the number animes ever made, for real.

I dunno Vince VAUGHN? It seems like someone esle should play that part.
I mean i liked Speed racer as a kid. All I can see happening with this movie is it becoming a Fast and the Fruious with an annoying girl in the trunk.
I hope they don't mess this one up.

So long as they don't try to push the Mach 5 as some current Production or Future Concept American Car, i'm all for it.

They are working on a new filming technique, like they did with 'bullet time', to be used for the race scenes of the Mach 5. They want to create a 'signature' look of the Mach 5 "in it's environment". As always the brothers W are defining the look of the film as the write it. They are probably the closest thing to 'motion-manga' directors that there is in the US, they write as much in images as they do in words.
And no, like the Batmobile (the better ones), the Mach 5 will be treated as a custom one off.

Actually, it was a kid and a monkey in the trunk....I should really stop using my free time to rewatch Speed Racer, shouldn't I? ;P
