This is great news! I've seen bits and pieces of this anime and it looks good.

Basilisk has been showing in Canada on Razer for the last 10 weeks or so and I must say it is better than I thought it would be. This show is definitely worth watching.

IFC's been going for really adult-level anime titles, with Samurai 7 almost done, Basilisk to start in Oct. and Gunslinger Girl waiting in the wings for an airdate. I guess they have more leeway than other TV anime outlets. And the nice thing is that they run their anime uncut, with full openings/endings. (^_*)

Exactly this is one of the reason why IFC has a chance to be the place to watch anime over [AS]/CN. The uncut I believe is the most important thing, I can live without op/ed.

Excellent. I've been wondering when they'd announce when it was going to air. I'll have my Tivo up and ready to get this whole series. The great thing is that it's only 24 episodes, so I won't have to follow it for quite a while, like some of the longer series I'm currently following. Good stuff, though. Now I don't have to buy the DVDs off of RightStuf.

the only thing i wish is that they'd air them in japanese with subtitles instead of the mostly awful dub jobs. i like the shows they have chosen to air, and they are all good shows, but come on IFC has their subtitled samurai saturdays every week, why not some anime? eh, i'll just go back to watching my japanese dvds i guess...

Basilisk Dub hasn't been bad (thus far) and I personally like the seven samurai dub. But you are right it would be nice if they could air the subtitle version, perhaps they could do both. I don't know the specific of their contract so perhaps IFC doesn't have the rights to play undub anime.
