Yeah, "why would you say that?", you say.

Azur Lane's developer company has strong business links with bilibili, so its not surprising that bilibili wants to spend money to the production company, which that means Funimation will put their hands on it, as it happened with Fire Force (another anime funded by bilibili).

I really like the designs, I hope it is at least fun and does not have a protagonist as nasty as in kancolle.
