Is it still popular enough after almost 3 long years of no new anime content?

Wow, this is unexpected...but also begs the question if this does well will this happen more often? Hmmm.

It's only been about two years since it first aired, and yeah, it is still pretty popular. There's still been merch and crossover promotions with Sanrio. Still, it's been a couple of months since we've heard anything about the movie.

It's two years and given how the website crashed when they released the first teaser for the movie, I'd parse it is

oh, got a couple theaters near me. that's cool, but 4 hours in a theater is crazy. Barely made it when Gods and Generals was playing, so another hour just isn't gonna happen

So? To my knowledge this is hardly new, the theater has a big screen and you can watch shows on it. I saw the first 3 episodes of Magus and the Bride in theaters.
Plus there are massively long movie marathon events that happen in theaters.
Thinking about it, George R.R. Martin owns a movie theater and I think it had marathons of Game of Thrones seasons. Probably one season at a time, but still lengthy I imagine.

Damn, no Auburn, Alabama on the list...that sucks, we never get anything except the Yu-Gi-Oh! movie and the occasional Pokemon one and Ghibli.

They also did this in Mexico a few months ago and tickets sold out within hours in the bigger cities

Sadly, no Canadian viewings. Would have been great to have alongside the US. I'd wager there are enough fans in at least Toronto and Vancouver to justify doing screenings?
Theoretically I could take a bus or train to Detroit and back, but that's a lot of extra $ plus time even if I choose not to spend the night (I probably wouldn't if I could help it, but bus and train schedules are limited).
I understand Fathom may only do US events, but I really wish Canada was included. I suppose there's still a chance there might be something held up here, but really, Canadians who can will cross the border because they just don't know if anything will be held here. And then I can see fewer tickets being sold in Canada because people have already gone to the US. In my case I've a real multi-day figure skating event to go to in October where I know some of the fans attending. I'm afraid that wins over a few hours at an event with people I don't know. It's a shame, because I was not expecting to have to choose.
