Why not just watch it on Adult Swim or Adult Swim Fix?

Yeah, if you can stream anytime on Adult Swim's site, there's not much point. But being able to download the episode is kind of cool, and I imagine Bandai will put some shows up that aren't on Adult Swim, too.

I just read the press release, and now I understand the situation a little more. According to it, we'll only be able to see Eureka 7 streaming on [as] on April 14, and not for the rest of the week.
Also, if the price is low and there is an option to watch it in Japanese with subtitles, it might be worth it to buy the digital versions of the series. Anyway, this is really the first major push from an anime company in North America to tackle the potential digital anime market and all the problems associated with it, as far as I know, so this should be very interesting... |

that's pretty stupid timing. if they were smart, they would do it on the 10th or something.

I'm sure there's some clause in their contract with AS that prevents that. It's pretty much standard practice for Cartoon Network to get first dibs on the english version of any anime (unless it's something older like Evanvgelion) these days. I hope they announce the price for each episode soon. I might get them if they're not too expensive. |

kind of funny how someone suggested anime companies doing something like this in an Answerman column and Answerman said this was not going to happen.
Personally I think this is a great idea. Giving the customer more options to buy the product is always a great thing. Also besides bandwith issues, they don't have to pay for packaging, art and whatever other costs are associated with it. This is also a great way for someone to sample the show without having to take a $30 hit to their wallet to see if they like it. |

When I try to get to AnimeVillage.com, all I get is Bandai's main site. Www.Bandai-Ent.Com has been up for a very long time. Does anyone know whats going on?

I don't think AnimeVillage.com is up quite yet. Try again in a week or so, probably.

A week? You're telling me they're announcing this like it's ready for viewing, but it really won't be available for a week? WTF? Screw it, I'm not even gonna bother.

This seems like good news...the sooner the anime companies can introduce legal digital distribution, the better chance they'll have of combatting the fansubbers and DVD rip groups. Hasn't this sort of thing been done before, maybe by ADV with an episode of Madlax or something?
