I wonder if it will do the original manga's super downbeat ending....

I so liked the manga, I hope the setting in modern days won't be disappointing.
And if it's a Netflix success, I wish they adapt Cutey Honey or Susano Oh as well.

This looks quite interesting. The staff looks great too. As someone who has never watched anything from Go Nagai before, I hope that this series can also serve as a solid introduction to his work. I’ll check this out when it releases.

Add another series to this amazing season. Winter is starting to rival spring.

I'm very glad Netflix didn't go with Polygon for this one, I refuse to watch any of their work.
My only issue with this, is that the SHAFT inspired art style, does not work as well as the one used in the OVAs. In some ways it looks like the 70s TV show.

More like Masaaki Yuasa art style. Check out anything else he's directed.

I swear this can't come soon enough considering that much of the ads made it seem like it was going to happen in October. But we're almost here. I have a lot of faith in Yuasa-san. This is going to be another take on the classic legend. I will try and make time and watch this.
Oh, OMT I hope that with this incarnation of the series, Discotek (or someone) will release the original features that Manga had once owned. Because Manga (who I'm still holding a gripe over) only released a dubbed version of the features on DVD. They never released a dual language version. And I consider that a slap in the face to myself and anyone else as a consumer. Since then it has NEVER gotten a proper DVD release. I had to literally import the 2nd film in on LD just to own it. I have never watched a full subtitled version of both films, and the 2nd is my favorite of the two.
Man when did I ever become a person worshiping at the altar of 'Go Nagai'?
It feels good. DAMN GOOD!!

I know its his work, but it still looks similar to the style that SHAFT uses.

The style shaft uses is perfect for old school style designs anyway.
Masaaki Yuasa's is good for it, too.
