Yeah, the success of that series is insane. Although FMA's been doing better than most anime movie spin-offs lately.

I really wish I could see TrainMain myself. I've read the story, and I wish more movies were made like that.

Patience, my young apprentice. Soon, the FMA movie will be in the hands of [insert known fansub website] and our victory will be at hand.

Well, you have an all-ages family show movie vs. a more or less "teen oriented" show movie. Plus, Pokemon is basically a cultural phenomenon. FMA, awesome as it is, probably won't earn itself more than a footnote in the great big history book of anime.

Personally, I'm happy for both of them. An anime movie opening up in third place is amazing. Now we just have to see how long it manages to hold on to a top spot.

Doubtful. Japan takes no crap when it comes to people recording movies in the theaters.

All it takes is one person, such as some small theatre owners kid or something.

it happened with Howl's Moving Castle

i thought for sure it would debuted at at least 3, though i have heard the movie's a little disappointing. Pokemon's still popular in Japan?

"Victory" is not having to pay to watch something you love and want to support.

I'm going to go throw up now.

Well, they're apparently being extra-strict about cameras, but it's entirely possible that there are screener copies floating around that someone could nab. I've heard rumors already of raws in the process of being made available, so who knows...

...Freaks.

And to the Pokemon haters...Booyah. Heck, even a Myuu movie can upstage the beloved Hagaren.

first of all <.< no ripping on the pokemon movies, they are a lot more wel written and action packed, i watched one of the new ones on tv in kyoto last week and i rather enjoyed it....despit enot having subs.

and i saw the FMA movie in Ginza last monday, and well i didn't enjoy it as much as the pokemon movie i saw, yet thats only cause th epokemon movie can be enjoyed more asily wihtout subs than FMA can as it relies on some feuding philosophies. I was rather glad i got to see it tho.

FMA movie is not a spin off, it is a direct continuation to the tv series. Also, pokemon caters to a larger audiance because of its reputation and culture. That is it's foot had been in the door a lot longer and a lot more meaningful than FMA's foot.

I respect FMA's foot. Now for a fansub hunt

What? So, let me get this straight... You want to "support" FMA, but you don't want to have to PAY to see FMA? If that isn't irony I don't know what it is!

Frankly, I'm hoping it will get dubbed to English and released here in the US so that I can pay to see it, either in a theatre or on DVD.

In two years, no one in Japan will really care about FMA, yet they'll still be gaga over Pokemon. Accept your shortcomings, and deal with them.
