Me and my friend watched it in english and didn't even notice it was mono, lol. Anyway I hope they're able to fix this, cause I really like DearS.
Edit: Now that this arguement is over I just want to state that I actually like DearS in subs better...

Either way, I'll still buy DearS even if it mono...I usually don't notice the difference anyway and still manage to watch it english just because I hate those typical japanese > english stereo types.

Well, to me it doesn't matter i never noticed anyway. If they fix it so be it i'll get a new one, if not oh well. As for the person above me i agree it doesn't matter how you watch anime as long as you enjoy it.

DUDE.
Keep your opinions to yourself. Anime isn't meant to be read; it's meant to entertain. You watch your subs, and let him watch his dubs. We don't need any purist comments in here, thank you.

Or you could both stop being such obnoxious idiots!
Bet you didn't even think there WAS a third option!

I can think of a fourth one...
Y'know, you're pretty harsh, you know that?

I already am because I didn't interject my opinion.
And I'm not being obnoxious, Zac. Not once did I say anything about my personal preference or how I feel about people who disagree. THAT would be obnoxious.

I don't really wanna know about your fourth option (I'd like to end this argument) but you might not want to tell a moderator how you feel about his actions, especially if they're not compliments. Just a thought.

Yes, I am.
I'm of the mindset that being excessively nice when trying to correct people on internet forums - people who generally disregard the rules and spend all day sniping at eachother - is a waste of time. Having been to many forums that are much better behaved than this one, I can see that being a little less "nice" about telling someone that they're acting like an idiot generally keeps people on track.
It isn't my job to be polite, it's my job to enforce the rules and try to make this forum a little less juvenile.
Back on topic, please.

BTW, I would say your personal preference would be "anime isn't meant to be read".
Sound pretty obnoxious to me.
But back to the topic, I thought about picking up DearS but if it has Mono sound, than forget about it. Actually I thought most anime are now being release in 5.1 sound, so having 2.0 sound is what I consider to be a poor release by today's standard.

That's what I thought too, but after I just hooked up my 5.1 system recently, I went straight to my anime DVD collection to look for a really awesome series to bombard my eardrums from 5 directions, but much to my dismay, the ONLY anime I could find out of my 100+ collection (all released within the past 2 years) was GitS:SAC. Even "Last Exile" was in 2.0 which made me very sad.
I'm more about the visuals than the sound when it comes to anime (well story/dialogue moreso, but that's a different story), but when you got the 5.1 system there, you want to use it. Not having the 5.1 option on a disc won't stop me from buying a particular series, but I want to get the best experience possible. Hope the industry is reading this.

Stereo's fine for anime. I watch SAC in 5.1 and it didn't impress me all that much. It's cool if it was originally in 5.1, but I certainly wouldn't want shows remixed that way. 5.1 for the sake of 5.1 is rarely a good thing in my experience. I know ADV tends to do that with their dubs now. It tends to sound hollow IMO. I'd rather watch a richly mixed stereo then that.
I remember seeing the dub at Fanime. I couldn't really hear any problem in a rather large room. It kind of goes to show how little directionality is used in anime. While I'd be watching it subbed anyway, it still is something I hope they'll fix.
