How would that work? Megan Man onyl kills robots, not people. If it was in the Mega Man X universe, I could see maybe see that hitting the R rating boundary if it was super violent edgelord stuff. Vanilla Mega Man is just that, vanilla and unless the numbered Mega Man titles have some secret lore that I don't know about, I can not see an "R rated" Mega Man.

X would probably be PG-13 there isn't really much difference between OG Rockman and X-timeline. Like they'd have to take a ton of liberties like maybe spoiler[Zero XXX Slamming Iris in the XXX as a last goodbye before she dies]. That's the kinda plot stretching you'd be looking at for the R rating.

I guess they could swear a lot, no reason for robots not to swear.

All the Robot Masters will be female. And topless.

Seriously though, even if Rock/Mega doesn't kill humans, that doesn't mean the villains don't. There could be tons of violence, and some swearing.

Coming this summer, the most violent piece of cinema ever filmed...KIRBY. Rated R.

From the director of the erotic thriller TETRIS.

If the story is thought out well, I think an R-rated Mega Man film could work.

In any case, I'm thrilled that Adi Shankar is against the idea of Metal Gear Solid becoming a live-action film. Smile

Sure, and while you're at it, why not an NC-17 Kirby movie? Also, why don't we just drill holes in our head to let the air out?

FFS. In the history of bad ideas, an R-rated Mega Man movie is up there with New Coke or the Juicero.

Well the Skull Man arc in the Mega Man Megamix/Gigamix manga was very adult. So was the Ra Moon story in Archie's Mega Man comic, which was based on a really adult Japanese PC Mega Man game that never came to the US.

It's rare but Classic Mega Man has gone into R rated territory.

-thinks Mega Man needs to be R

Classic Rock? No way.

X, PG-13 max.

MMZero style Zero series? I'd say hell yeah, but that'd just circle back to Casshern Sins.

But we already have The Protomen?

I think some of you guys are taking this a little too seriously/litterally, there are a lot of ways to present robot violence in an R-rated context. See: Samurai Jack. Or, yes, Cassern SINS

I would prefer to see a sequel to Dredd from this guy before he does an R-rated Mega Man.

Yes but this is Megaman. Samurai Jack even in the new episodes only go as far as TV-14 which is like PG-13 with the older episodes being TV-Y7-FV which is like PG rated.

So basically a R rating might work for some things that do include robot violence, but Megaman is not 1 of them.

To get something up to an R-rating, all you need is a sex scene, a bare penis, or bare breasts for longer than some certain amount of time (7 seconds combined, I think). To that end, would it make a Mega Man story better? I highly doubt it, but they already did it with the Brazilian Mega Man comics (where Roll, who has been physically aged up to late teens or early 20's in appearance, spends most of the story naked).

That'd be hilarious.

Well, the New Coke disaster was more because Coke Classic was discontinued than the existence of New Coke. It got as far as it did because the focus groups reacted positively to it, not knowing it would replace Coke Classic. New Coke also had sound logic behind it: Since the Coca-Cola Comapny was losing to Pepsi, they'd make well, a new Coke that tastes like Pepsi. They believed Coca-Cola fans were turning to Pepsi because Pepsi tastes better, so they'd make a Pepsi-tasting Coke to win them back.

I think that if Coke Classic remained and co-existed with New Coke, New Coke would continue to exist to the present day.
