Yes, the state. Yes, the place with the team that will probably beat Villanova tomorrow. Wink The land of green chile.

Except it doesn't say it will be an embassy, it will be an office. They are two very seperate things and this headline certainly grabbed my attention. Shocked

We do have some pretty good business down here, and a solid Asian community. I really don't know what to expect, save that if this winds up being successful, it's going to be pretty damn cool. Perhaps I should make sure to send a letter to Homan's office and see if there is anything I can do as the president of an anime club.

And just how exactly is this going to work? And why should I believe that this isn't just a stunt?

This seems weird. Unless New Mexico has changed a great deal since I was in college (2002). Somehow I don't see a bunch of japanese artistic minds milling around Socorro. Maybe Santa Fe, if anywhere.

Remember that it does not say just "anime" but "anime and video games." Any which way you slice it, video games is a much larger money maker than anime. And I venture to say that most game programmers don't need to be all that creative, at least artistically. Heck, even alot of people in the anime industry don't need to be creative, marketing people and what not.

They should put that image on the back of thier new state quarter if it hasn't been chosen. Then the nation will know what New Mexico is really all about!

Actually it makes sense. NM has one of the largest film industries outside of CA and NY including a full folly stage. Most of the CG graphics and animations, including those of Monday Night Football are created by companies in the Albuquerque area. ALL the CGI work for Hercules, Xena, and Space: Above & Beyond were done here as well. Our links to both the computer industry as well as film, television and a strong artistic heritage should make NM a bright possibility for Anime.

Maybe they're to design a machine that allows people to time travel within their own lifetime. Wink [/somewhat obscure reference]

Not so much "time travel" as "time leaping" wouldn't you say?

Maybe it is time leaping, but it's better to stick with the original reference. Smile

This certainly grabbed my attention quick. An office in tokyo for anime and games for a state people think is part of Mexico. Cool! At least my state is actually making progress towards the anime industry. GO NEW MEXICO!!! Very Happy

Especially since that's basically what they said in the prolouge to each episode.

At least somebody got it. I'm happy.

Consider your bracket busted Razz.

And while the news itself is still kind of weird since I've never really paid attention to anything originating from New Mexico aside from Brian Urlacher, I guess it's cool that your state is now expanding all the way to the "Land of the Rising Sun" Wink.
