inb4 AMAZON ARE A BUNCH OF HOMOPHOBES rage ensues
Why don't they just implement an "adult" section or something? Aren't there adult romance novels on the kindle store? |

I could say something about publishing these titles in actual print format, but I won't because no one listens to me anyways....

I find the Bible offensive given it has passages related to rape, incest, murder, persecution, blood sacrifice, genocide, bestiality, child abuse, domestic abuse, and racism. Remove all instances to the bible and any works studying the bible from Kindle immediately as it clearly offends me. |

Apple censors DMP, Amazon censors DMP, oh, why isn't there a digital manga distributor that doesn't censor DMP?

Nothing actually to do with porn per se. Even purely written word books have been removed.
That much is true. It seems like it just comes down to complaints. Unfortunately some people just target stuff like BL/yaoi and/or complain loudly. Like I mentioned above, even written novels containing controversial subjects like incest by western authors have been removed simply because some find it offensive and Amazon (like Youtube, Facebook, etc) simply do not want to risk offending a majority of people. They can still sell the print versions though. Those have never had a problem.
That is true; the authors I mentioned removed from Amazon Kindle, have been able to publish in Nook... I just hope BN continues to allow people to do so |

I feel bad for the people that enjoyed it. I'm a bit surprised because the majority of the manga on the Kindle seemed to be boys love, so I figured Amazon was fine with that. I didn't know the Nook platform was more open. I just wish they would actually check books out so they aren't just lists of things, instead of trying to ban stuff like this. I'm tired of seeing "books" that are just random lists of stuff. If I'm offended by something, I'll just ignore it, but those "books" mess up almost every search.

Okay, officially pissed off now.
Yaoi/BL is so innocuous compared to works that contain extreme violence, hatred based on race or sex, child porn (the real thing - NOT two teenage boys falling for each other and consensually getting naked and kissing, etc.). Honestly - do they think we're all children in the U.S.? Like adults here can't make up their minds about yaoi and bl content like adults in other countries do?? |

I was going to assume that someone referenced Barnes and Noble, and I see that it already has been brought up. When shopping for digital manga with my Nook eReader, I find literally pages of stuff from DMP that fall into the shounen-ai/yaoi genre.

Seems it is perfectly fine to have graphic rape or love scenes in the written word, but God save you if it is a drawn image.

without BL, is there actually any manga left up in the kindle store?

I won't say Amazon are homophobes, but they don't really have a good track record with LGBT works, like when they listed ALL LGBT books as adult and de-ranked them, then blamed it on a 'glitch' after all the bad PR.
I don't like companies like this censoring content. Sure, it's within their rights as a private company, but I'm still against it as a customer. Which is why I'm certainly not going to get a Kindle when I end up getting an e-reader. |

I'm going to note that lacking any other word from Amazon, it's possible that someone looked at the comics, decided that characters look under 18, and reported it to Amazon.
IF that's the case, then Amazon not suspending the materials could land them in a lot of legal hot water these days. And if that's the case then I don't blame Amazon so much as the people out there who insist on trying to censor comics. If that's NOT the case and someone just complained about it being gay porn, then yes, it's ridiculous. DMP should work something out with Smashwords. They offer PDF and MOBI files that can be viewed on the Kindle, and they've been dealing with Paypal's attempts to stifle them too. |

Well, there goes pretty much all (well... almost) the manga Kindle store had. This is sad since I didn't have much hopes for other publishers to release manga on Kindle any time soon even before this, much less now. IMO, reading manga on Kindle beats desktop or laptop or even iPad screen any day.
