Hey, I was wondering if any one could tell me how many different series there are to Dot Hack and in what order they run. Thanks a Lot!

.hack//SIGN
.hack//LIMINALITY and PS2 games .hack//SIGN "Unison" (.hack//SIGN Vol. 6 Limited Edition only) .hack//LEGEND OF THE TWILIGHT (manga and anime) There are also a few novels, I believe, but those haven't been translated into English at this time. |

Okay since this is about .Hack I wanna know how these relate to each other. The books and the series. I have the game and I watched part of the series on Adult Swim (How many episodes are there by the way?) but how do they relate to each other time wise? Is the series like a prequel? Could someone put them in order for me? And possibly tell me what they're about? LOL

Here's a rough timeline in which the anime and games go.
.hack//SIGN .hack the video games. .hack Legend of the Twilight anime/manga. |

Okay so....Hack//SIGN was...what was that? See, I didn't get that in the anime Kite wasn't there but he was in the game so I had some trouble trying to connnect them. So it was like, they found out something was going on, then enter Kite. Then Kite's friend, Orca, gets put into a coma and Kite fixes everything, at the end obviously. But then how does the anime fit in?

SIGN is about the begining of The Wave (is that what it was called?) and Aura's awakening. The games continue with the spread of the Wave.
Then LotTB picks up several years after the games, where a brother and sister win avatars of Kite and Blackrose in a contest and continues something about the bracelet. |

Okay, that last thing is kind of wierd...have you seen it? Is it any good?
Hey...are you a member of any other board because I've seen your name before but not here...and I didn't think that it would be so popular as to have one person using it on different sites. |

Oh, sorry, no. I meant Swordfish_II, I saw that user name before and I thought that it could have been the same person just a different site. I was asking if he used that ID on another site...

.hack//sign is the prequel to .hack games where kite takes over as the main character and tries to help aura.
As for the anime .hack//sign it is well done and in depth with the story jumping sometimes between "the world" and flash backs to the real world. |

Well, although it's already been explained on what the order is, I still want to give my opinion on this franchise.
I recently purchased all LE volumes of SIGN and enjoyed the series very much (rated "excellent" for sub.) Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be playing the games anytime soon. Don't get me wrong, the story was well-written and I'm sure the games do an equally good job filling in the aftergap. But after watching a friend of mine play all 4 PS2 games prior to me watching the series, I don't think I'm willing to put in 40+ hours of my life per game, let alone a series of games (and OAVs) just to get back to a 12 episode TV series of continuance. Well, maybe someday I'll try. But for now, I think the anime suffice. It's a nice idea to link them all together though. Omoshiroi... |

I put 8 hours into the first game today... I guess I'll never get that part of my life back...

Well as far as the games, I have "enjoyed" them. I love the followup story of .hack//Sign all the up to the last volume of the game. Gameplay wise, it does mimc MMORPGs of today very well, which is why it might have gotten some many down point from some other people. Atleast it not like Xenosaga, were you watch more then you play.

I'm currently playing the game right now. I'm on the forth disc and I've had a lot of fun with it. Saddly, I've spent almost 60 hours and still haven't beaten it. The only thing that I don't like to much is the finding of VIRUS cores. That eats up a lot of your time because you have to find monsters of the correct size to data drain. Besides that, it's pretty fun.
The big long .hack series goes .hack//sign .hack//game (liminality fits in too) .hack//dusk |
