A while ago I posted asking if anyone new of any manga subscription services. Well, I kept looking and found one that looks pretty cool. It's called yuko subscribe.
http://www.yukosubscribe.com/ Right now they only have Tsubasa and Holic, but thats ok with me. Right now I only have Holic and have kind of wanted to try out Tsubasa for a while, so I figured I'd give it a try. It's a pretty interesting idea. I voted for Furaba to be the next manga they offer. |

Well that's.... interesting...
I'm not sure I see the point or why anyone would want to use it though. They seem to be selling used books for nearly full price. Why not buy it from a reputable seller, like Amazon or TRSI, where you could easily get it for the same price or less? Why not just buy it all at once or buy one volume and then all the rest once you know you like it? I'm just not seeing any reason to 'subscribe' like that, unless its for volumes that aren't out yet, which would be nice... if it was a reputable site. There's no way I would consider giving any money or credit card information to such a questionable site. The site is barebones, offers only two series and has no information on itself other than an e-mail address. And free first class shipping? That smells particularly fishy. Seems like a scam to me, but I'm certainly not going to be the one to test it out. |

Well, it said something at the bottom of the page that implied that newly released volumes would also be part of the "subscription service." I'm guessing the idea is that allot your money by spending it at given intervals instead of all at once, so it seems like less because you pay over time. It's really just a little bit of self-imposed discipline, nothing revolutionary as they claim it to be.

If you read on the site, it does say that all book are brand new and factory fresh, fyi. I tried it, and I'll tell you what I think.

Just thought I'd also say, they use paypal, so you don't have to worry about giving THEM your credit card information.

Eh, it seems pretty fishy and there just doesn't seem to enough benefit to warrant using it.

Why would they only have two series? That in itself seems a little bizarre, and it's true that there's not much info on the site. Myself I would stay away from it. You can try it out, and see what happens. I would try to see if other people know about it before you do it. And almost everybody that has posted doesn't know about.

I misread it. I missed the "never" part.
It still seems fishy and even if its legit, it seems quite pointless. |

Just so you know, you can also enter a credit card, but you are entering it right into paypal's site, so they don't get your credit card info, so it is completely secure. Also, I got my first volume this past Monday and it is in immaculate condition. I'm really excited it wasn't fake, because I've been looking for something like this for a while.
