I was watching a movie and I checked out the previews and I saw a trailer of Mezzo Forte. Has anyone seen this movie? Because it strikingly resembles Kite in the way it's colored, drawn and characters. And is it by the same people who did Kite? I'd appreciate some feedback because I'm thinking about picking up a copy.

Yes it is by the makers of Kite. It was even followed up by a TV series. Not bad for a light hentai.

The animation style is very similar to the one in KITE. Mezzo Forte is pretty descent anime and it has lots of hardcore hentai. Absolutely for 21+ .

2 hentaiscenes don't make it a hardcore hentai thing
It is pretty good, though I would have absolutely no idea what the use was of that first hentai scene

Let's step back a little, shall we?
"Hentai" is a genre roughly akin to pornography.
If you say, "There are two hentai scenes in this show", that's like saying, "There are two pornographic scenes in this show." -- a rather peculiar phrasing, IMO.
Wouldn't it be better to say, "There are two sex [or "sexual"] scenes", instead? By saying all sex scenes are hentai, you're characterizing all sexual encounters _AS_ perverse and unnatural, and thus the entire show being pornographic. Obviously, this need not be the case.
I'd consider things like "Cream Lemon", "Urotsukidouji" and "Venus 5" to be typical "pornographic" anime... and they're quite different in style and taste than Mezzo is.

Although that may be true, the scenes in the Mezzo Forte OVA were completely unrelated to the storyline and didn't contribute in any way to the overall package. For that reason, I found those scenes specifically to be pornographic in nature espcially since they really didn't serve any other purpose. I suppose if you get the cut version without them, you would be far better off in this case. But as it stands, I do consider the scenes in particular here to be hentai in nature.
Just one other consideration... There are titles that are released by NuTech, which involve consensual sex that aren't perverse in and of themselves. (Pia Carrot for instance) However, it is still categorized under the Hentai category.
While the literal definition of Hentai does mean abnormal (especially in the sexual context), I suspect it's not the context as to wheter the concept is consensual or not. On a cultural level, I suspect that with the Japanese, because it's involving an eroticism involving animated characters, it's not exactly normal. In fact, any outsider observing sex (viewing it because you aren't involved) rather than the couple participating in the act itself may be the concept that is considered perverted.
Given what I've seen of the culture in Japan, the public display of affection is frowned upon. For that reason then, I suspect that it is for this reason that watching sex, rather than doing the act, is considered perverted. On the other hand, doing it is considered normal. I guess it's kiss and don't tell kind of situation.

I'm reasonably certain it's "ecchi" for sex, hentai for the harder stuff.

Ecchi in Japanese is the pronounciation of the letter H, typically an abbreviated form of the word, Hentai. Then again, I believe that the reasoning for the term is basically because applied to an abbreviated form of what might be considered pervered. Ergo, while just basic nudity might be considered ecchi, something containing graphic scenes goes well beyond that and would likely be considered hentai. In the instance of Mezzo Forte, I'd say that with the scenes left intact, it most definetly would be described as being very graphic.
To clarify my prior post which was a bit wordy, I should have meant that peeping, watching others, or talk about others having sex is probably considered perverted by the Japanese, while participating in the act itself is not. Therefore, the display of people having sex, even in animated form, is hentai. For this reason, it makes sense for Mezzo Forte to be placed in that category if the sex scenes are included.

im back! hehehe. i thought mezzo forte wasnt as good as kite, if you liked kite, you'd probably like mezzo forte since yea, they are from the same makers (and sawa from kite appears breifly on MF). but i didn't think MF was as deep as kite, it focused much more on action then character development. the H-scenes i felt was a bit unnecessary, it's like one minute something normal , next sex scene
