Is there any talk out there about someone release the Star Ocean anime in the states? I mean the game did well enough for there to be enough demand for it to be released here.

It would be better that it doesn't come to the US. I've seen episodes 1-8 and it's nothing special. The series (of what I've seen) is almost exact to the story of the game. But with lazy animators and an unexiting story with some dull humor hopefully it stays in japan and doesn't come to the US.

I'll agree that the anime is no different from the game. I was a big fan of Star Ocean itself as a game so I'm still hoping for this anime to cross over.

I would actulay like to see the manga broght over rather than the anime. Mostly because the anime and manga have the same story line, but primarly because the manga was slightly better than the anime.

I have never actually played the game (although I hear it is fantastic) The anime isn't really anything special, I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much if Ashton wasn't in it. the ending kills everything it built up to, let's just say that it is so open ended that you'd expect a season 2 to pop up out of nowhere, so be warned, or actually be prepared.
I hope you get to see it.

The anime also stops at the end of disc one of the video game. So it doesn't end where the game did. Its really not that great. The game is pretty good ... except it has 80 different endings and you can gain levels up to 999 and that is not a joke. Enix even makes fun of that joke in Valkyrie Profile.
As far as artwork is concerned ... I like SOME of the anime character artwork better. Especially with Claude, Opera, and Celine. Rena ... looked a little young compared to what is portrayed in the game and even acted as such.
Also back to the fact this is an anime based on a game and in a lot of cases it won't follow EXACTLY as the game did itself. It can be cool in its own right but it still won't compare to the original

Since I personally haven't played the game I wouldn't really know the exact differences but I did hear of the over 88 different endings. I was wondering is the game really hard to finish? (i'm really bad at ps2 games and such. )

Well, I got as far as like the beginning of the second disk. The battle system is weird so it's like if your main character falls in battle you're pretty much done for. It's really easy to level up but once you get the hang of the game it's not so bad. Star Ocean 3 is coming to the US soon hopefully they don't make an anime based on Star Ocean 3.

Star Ocean 3: Till the End of time - August 8th, 2004
As far as the in battle thing ... actually if you get good you are capable of switiching to other characters and controlling them to revive the main one. Survived a lot of battles by doing that.
I must say it was an interesting battle system to say the least.
As far as if they would do an anime based on it. At this point I'd say no. They only really do animes to video games right around the time they release ... not 6 months later. So at this point its probably very safe to assume they won't.

You seem to be forgetting something. The star ocean anime took place years after the game came out. If it's by the same company, I wouldn't discount the possibility because of that.
However, I don't think the Star Ocean anime had really great ratings. It obviously got cut off at a point that had completed the anime series itself, but not the storyline. Since there hasn't appeared to have been a large clamoring by the fans to have it come back on, I doubt there would be another series because of the prior failed attempt.

Clearly the creators left it open for the possibilty of a sequel, but with the lackluster fan response it doesn't seem likely.

Well that's good that it's not too hard cos i hardly ever get far enough to actually finish the game and see the endings which means i have to find out from somewhere else
And hopefully they won't make another anime based on Star Ocean 3

True, it is not a very popular anime.

That is very true, maybe they did this to see if they got a really good response meaning that they could animate another entire series and get double the profit (if they made any that is in the first place) Guess they were looking for easy money but that idea sure went down the drain
But to be honest I enjoyed it quite a bit. There could have been real potential if they hadn't left it at such an abrupt and disatisfying ending.
Sorry couldn't get people's names on quotes.
