Well Issue 14 of Shonen Jump has been about for around two weeks now, so what do you think of the new issue?

I was very pleased to find that instead of having Yugi or some DBZ character on the front cover, we had Naruto instead. It sure has been a long time since we've had some different characters on the cover.

I really enjoyed the Naruto chapters this time and it's tying with Hikago for my favorite manga in SJ now. Naruto's story moved along very nicely, with no delay in the action. Hikaru no Go is getting to be a very cool manga, even though I hadn't expected that at first. There's good humor in the series and the characters are so grabbing. Shaman King was doing good, but this issue I wasn't so enthralled in it, the same for One Piece. In Yu-gi-oh, I really liked the strategy Yugi used to defeat Mokuba, and hope that his card game against Kaiba will be just as much fun. Yu Yu Hakusho and DBZ seem to be a little boring and the action just isn't fun to watch since the art seems to be a little below average compared to the other series. Of course, I should cut it some slack since they are much older than the rest of the series.

Overall, I thought that this was a good issue, but not great.

but I have to ask, Why on earth are they turing the girls into boys! You can see that some of the new supporting cast are girls yet they keep saying "he" and "him" this has happened more than once in the current magazines I have seen. It is annoying. Any clue ?

Why do I get the feeling you're talking about Sai (HikaGo)? If that's the character that's causing you so much grief, well, he really *is* a he. A beautiful, long haired, feminine he, but male non the less. Lots of people have had problems with this...

If that's not who you're talking about, who is, and what series? I haven't noticed any changes to gender myself, you might simply be having a problem with one of the androgynous that run amok in manga.

Wink
