I see the latest manga installment in Japan is not very old and the first in english isn't even here yet(not as a licensed book, anyway).
I'm watching the series right now after avoiding it for a long time upon hearing that it just "stops" and doesn't end, something I'm getting too familiar with in anime. Other than knowing about that, I'm really enjoying it. I wanted to know if the manga is finished, is anywhere near finished or if there's generally no clue how long it could continue on and thus am asking anyone out there reading the Gantz manga.
And be vague with anything storywise, if you need to be. That "spoiler" up top is what stopped me from watching this for a long time already.

It's been quite a while since I've read any new chapter of Gantz, must have been around volume 19 or 20 (that was a bit more than a year ago, I can't say for sure though, but a quick search could maybe confirm that). The second phase of the manga was just getting started I think, which would means that if it's as long as the first phase, it won't end before a while.

Good and bad news, I guess. First "part" finishing up? But second beginning huh...and it started in 2000.
Manga really doesn't like me. I hate not being able to finish something after starting.

Gantz won't be ending anytime soon. The second phase started around chapter 240, and the most recent chapter is # 271.
It will still be going for several years by the look of things.

Shouldn't be too bad though, since Young Jump is a weekly magazine. As long as Oku doesn't decide to take a vacation or anything then it should go fine for the series.
