Ok so instead of making the actual show better and explain the entire back story in the anime, they made a movie instead? I'm going to drop Un-Go this season, maybe if it gets better I pick it up again later.

Have you even been following the series? There are more than quite a few thread points in the show, and they have expanded on it rather well. Lest you forget, this is a MYSTERY show, so by revealing "everything" in the first few episodes, uh, there'd be no point at all. This isn't K-On for crying out loud.

Yes I have been following the show and no I wasn't expecting everything to be explained in the first few episodes (I am a big fan of detective/mystery stories so I know the drill), that isn't my issue. My issue is that instead of giving the back story of the main characters in the anime, they decided to made a movie to explain it (probably so they could make more money).
I could forgive that and even be excited for the movie, if the show was better. But come on let's face it for a mystery show Un-Go falls short on many levels. It does have the potential to be a great show, but it's not there right now. That's why I said before I would pick it up later if it gets good, but for now I'm done with it.

Or maybe they are putting it in a movie because they are already handicapped by the short run length of Noitamina shows? A lot of Noitamina shows get flack for rushing the storytoo much, but there's only so much you can do with 11 episodes. A movie is a smart move in my opinion, and besides, knowing how Shinjuro and Inga met (so far) isn't important to the plot, it's just nice to know information.

It's only going to be 11 episodes? That explains a lot. I was wondering why the mysteries are so simple and quickly solved, and why the character development is so slow (I would have been tempted to say non excitant, but there was some in episode 5). Unless they decide to do a second season this show has no hope of being anything better then mediocre.
Just to be clear my decision to drop the show has nothing to do with this announcement, I decided to stop watching it because of my 5 episode rule (if I can't get into a anime in 5 episodes I drop it). But now that I know it's only 11 episodes I'm not sure if I should just stick with it since I'm at the haft way point, or just cut my loses now.

Heheh, like those new videogames that you can't play properly (handicapped) unless you pay for the DLC after you already bought the game.
