Depends on what you define as good. Exposure for a good anime series? Yeah, that's good. Cuts, renaming and changing plot points through translation? Not so good. But it WILL be available in an uncut format on DVD, so those unhappy with the changes don't hafta watch it. I'm just crossing my fingers they don't change the order of the episodes around. That's just.... annoying.

It's not gonna be on Toonami, tho... It'll be on Adult Swim.

Of course, regardless where it's going to be, it's still a Good Thing (tm).

Not only will existing fans be satisfied (getting Inu-Yasha, basically uncut, on TV) it will attract new fans and new viewers to ASA.

Plus, aside from the blood, there's probably nothing that needs editing to conform to ASA's standards. Heck, it might even get away with that. (hmm.. well, some of the women dress pretty scantily... but no worse than Faye..)

There's a bunch of cursing that's supposed to be edited out. (But I haven't seen Inu Yasha in any form yet so that's like third-hand info....)

Well, I for one am really happy to see a Rumiko series finally hit national television. Sure it'll have it normal cuts (nudity, blood (*L* One Inu Yasha involves his own blood.), but it should help her other series (UY, Masion Ikkoku, Ranma, etc.) get looked at.

Well I think everyone's favorite lecherous monk is going to get a toning down.

It'll be another Quality Ocean Group Production (tm), which means everything will wound wooden and forced.

From Matt Wilson at Toon Zone (http://adultswim.toonzone.net/) (in the forum I guess, I'm really quoting ANS)

Quote:
As for the edits, you're probably going to see it uncut. But don't celebrate. Viz really screwed up bigtime on the uncut dub. Whoever wrote for it really sucks. They reportedly removed a lot of the profanity from the dub(even "damn" and "crap", the latter of which is allowed on CN at any hour).

Sounds like the visuals are untouched for the most part, but the script is going to be waterd down. Too bad.

I don't belive what other people say until I see and hear it, because Person A say this while Person B says that. More then likely there well be some censorship in it, given that there alot of blood at times. (Not as much as Cowboy BeBop at times) On thing I would love to see is Mirkou previsons (sp) still in there.

(not that anyone cares, but..... The quote originates comes from what he said on rec.arts.anime.misc, not the TZ forums.)

Knowing what AS standards are considering how they edited Cowboy Bebop, and from what I remember from watching Inu Yasha, I doubt that much will be adjusted.

In terms of cursing there wasn't anything worse than "sh*t" which could easily be replaced by "darn it" and still not lose the meaning or context.

In terms of editing blood, Inu Yasha is really the only person who bleeds, and he bleeds quite a bit. At least in the earlier episodes when he has a hand shoved through his stomach and the like. I think they could remove some of the blood safely, but really they couldn't remove all and have it retain the same emotions.

Nudity is pretty much a non-existant concern in this series. I think I can count all potential nudity concerns on one hand (if I remember there are 2, and neither show anything). Though as for the person who said there are people who dress scantily in this series, I really don't see that. At worst there's Kagome, and she's wearing a school uniform that covers everything. Sango is always covered up, and even the villains are always demurely covered.

And, I really don't feel that Miroku is perverted. He's been told that he's going to die soon, and he wants his family line to continue. I then think that his attempts to sleep with any woman he meets makes perfect sense. I also think there's a way for them to approach that in the dub that won't make it unseemly, but still retain the meaning and the original joke.

So basically the only thing they can edit for is content that they feel would be disturbing to children, but as it is going to be on adult swim... I have a feeling that this will work out fine in the end. As long as they keep the openings, endings, and Inu Yasha's jar I think I'll be happy. Oh, and if the voice work isn't terrible...

Ohh, scary thought about IY coming to AS #5, English opening and closing. Shocked Given that Hamtaro themes are English, it makes the DVD looks better and better.

Hopefully that won't be a problem. There's a suprising number of Japanese op/endings on cartoon network. Then again though they(Funi that is) changed the YYH op/end so it's all up to the company I guess.
