You could have just been following along in SJ, but waiting a month for a few chapters might not be your cup of tea.

Plus you get stuck with a lot of stuff in Shonen Jump that you might have no interest in... There's a chance that people who like Naruto won't pay the 5 bucks to get two volumes, plus 5 other titles which they may hate... I feel so behind, because I've been reading Naruto in SJ, and my roommate already snagged a fan translation and has read the whole freaking series. I'm willing to go with the flow. While not perfect, Shonen Jump is pretty solid (I just wish they wouldn't cram the graphic novel ads on EVERY PAGE.

Oops...

I think paying 5 bucks a month, then also buying the volumes when they come out, is a really bad investment on a manga series that now is over 20 volumes in Japan. Then again I'm cheap and only buy the volumes, and don't care for the other manga in shonenjump. I wish Viz would of never put Naruto into a monthly publication first, and release the manga based on that magazine, because they'll NEVER catch up to it in Japan now unless it ends at some point. Then it'll take about a good 5 years or something to catch up. *is complaining for no real reason*

Perhaps if they would do a weekly magazine here, then they would be able to catch up with the current chapters that are released every week in Japan. I guess SJ hasn't become popular enough for Viz to consider a weekly anthology or aquire enough titles to put one out yet. It would be nice though.

A weekly magazine would be perfect since pretty much all their manga was originally weekly. I just wonder if that'd up the price some.
