What do you think was the best Dragonball Z movie or TV special?

I think it was Movie 8 with Brolly.

I haven't seen that movie yet but I really liked "The History of Trunks" (very sad) and "Burdock - Father of Goku" (very powerful).

Those were TV specials, not movies.

The best movie, in my opinion...either 1 (Garlic Jr.), 6 (Kuura's return), 8 (Brolly #1), 9 (Bojack), 12 (Janenba), or 13 (Dragon Fist, I forget the monster's name). Those, the TV specials, and parts of Dragon Ball are just about the only DB animation I can actually tolerate. Razz

I would have to say the TV special; The History of Trunks.

However, I've heard that the 13th/last movie with Tapion (sp?) is really good, so I'd like to see that.

So far I've only seen Dbz movies 1-6 and the two specials. Out of them I would have to say the History of Trunks and Bardock the father of goku.

I saw this one Dragonball Z movie at my club once, and I forget which one it is and whatever else happened in it, but it's the one where, as a gag, Hitler comes out of Hell and is driving a little tank around, because, as any devotee of Late Night with Conan O'Brien knows, "gags about Hitler = TEH FUNNY"!

Anything with Brolly is a hit with me. Just how many movies were there? Think there were 26 movies and T.V specials in Japan. Then again my minds fuzzy since I haven't been into DBZ for years now Confused

There were only 13 movies and 2 specials- The history of Trunks and Bardock the Father of Goku. There was a "lost oav"
called The plan to Destroy the Saiyans also.

Movies 8, 9, 10, 12, and 13. I like the ones with Brolli the most, just because he's so kick ass. Anime smile Movie 12 with Janenba cracked me up!

It was basically little more than a tutorial video for some game on an old gaming system (Playdia, I believe).

Yea, Nagisa your right. I remember now some site said it was for a game. But i seen it and it was awsome. It had the Tsurifin in it; Bebi's race. It's cool, you can download it on the internet.

I've heard of that a long time ago, and it is on the Playdia. The best DBZ movie, I like Dead Zone, and movie 8(1st Brolly movie) and movie 9(Bo Jack, I think that the name of the villian).

Here's some (hopefully) helpful links:

As for my own personal preferences, it always comes back to a toss-up between movie nine ("Ginga Giri-Giri!! Butchigiri no Sugoi Yatsu") and movie twelve ("Fukkatsu no Fyûjon!! Gokû to Bejîta"). I really like movie nine because it, for once, doesn't directly revolve around Gokuu, and some of the other minor characters got a chance to shine for a little bit (despite Tenshinhan getting.. well.. owned by Trunks, it was fun to see that kind of fight). Movie twelve is absolutely hilarious, what with the failed Gogeta fusion, all the dead people coming back to life (Hi, Freeza! Bye, Freeza!), etc.

Movie thirteen ("Ryû-Ken Bakuhatsu!! Gokû ga Yaraneba Dare ga Yaru") probably has the best STORY of all the movies. Tapion is actually an intriguing character that you really feel for.

Most DBZ movies are pretty subpar. Movies 9, 12, and 13 were all right, though. If TV specials are fair game, Bardock Story is definitely the best.
