Who gets to be the guy in the giant panda suit?
Talk about a story that doesn't lend itself to live action well, especially not a presumably low budget TV special.
I guess if it sticks with an introduction to school life it could work, or if the revel in the cheesiness that would result if they try to use the various animal characters. It's not like anyone would be able to do a detailed LA/CGI mix treatment.

I predict levels of awfulness not seen since the shikigami no ballad live action series (you haven't seen it? good! make yourself a favor and don't)

I'm imagining it with 60s-era cheesy special effects, and I'm coming up with a fair amount of DO NOT WANT. IF they can make the acting half-decent, and IF they have the budget to use modern-day SFX, this might not be completely awful.

I'm also curious how this is going to work as a live action. I also wonder if it'll be an adaption to any of the manga chapters or something entirely original.

To be honest, I'm surprised Ranma doesn't have a musical like Sailor Moon, Utena, and Prince of Tennis by now.

Everybody was kung-fu fighting!
Those kicks were fast as lightning!
In fact, it was a little bit frightening!
But they fought with expert timing!
But are they gonna keep the nudity?
